Newfag here with a huge interest in programming but no knowledge at all. I've been thinking about learning by myself because I'm broke as fuck but have no idea where to start. The big question i have is what language should i learn first and that is the whole reason of this post.

TL;DR

What programming language should i learn as a complete newbie in the area?

Go for anything to get the motor running then when you're more aware of what it is you want, hone in.

I started with C, which is not OOP, which is standard in a lot of software, but I think it made me more aware of how computers and programming work in general. There are loads of resources and means to Polish your skills out there, for instance you could aim to contribute to the Linux kernel, which is written in C.

I fucking hate browsing my image folders on windows bo7ne7, is there any software to sort them by color scheme, resolution and shit?
what are photographers using for this kind of stuff?
21 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
I think you can do that with Adobe Lightroom or Bridge, but they're pretty clunky.

Bumping for interest. Also would like a tagging program and unicode support if possible.
>>
>>53352788
Well, if you're going to be on Windows anyway, you can use Explorer to tag JPEGs (also TIFFs if you don't mind converting PNGs). You can sort by and group by tags, resolution, width, height, orientation, date, etc (not colors though). Another handy trick is to search for "-type:folder" and group by folder name. This basically flattens your folders so you can browse images from a bunch of subfolders at once. For viewing images, just select the ones you want and drag them into Honeyview.

If you want something with external tagging, there's programs like Bridge (uses sidecar files) and ThumbsPlus (uses a database).

Is there a good algorithms book with examples written in modern C++ (that's using all the recent additions to C++)?

interested too
>>
>>53349211
> C++11
But you don't need move semantics, variadic templates, and smart pointers to implement BSTs, heaps, sorts, and tree traversals.

It kinda sounds like you're new to C++ and algorithms in general. For learning algorithms, you really shouldn't have to worry about the language syntax details.

Btw, and implemention of these things in!C++ will mostly look like it would in C.

I'm somewhat new to monitors, I have only been using old used 4:3 ones off ebay. Now that I have a new computer, though, I feel that it's time to invest in a new monitor as well.

Because it's wasted technology. You could have given that old laptop to a person who needed a laptop for basic document writing and web browsing.

Since people know they are being watched, they censor themselves.

They are scared of being blackmailed by people who know they wanked to shemale porn or that they cheated on their husband etc.

Serious question: why do you kids need 8 core CPUs, 4GBs of RAM and 2/4k displays in your fucking PHONES?

Seriously please explain this shit to me. Is there a valid reason to spend money on this shit other than being a good goy?

bet you use prepaid too huh
You use your phone every fucking day for literally anything, photos with your friends, important calls, games to pass the time, checking instagram, literally anything. why not use the best?
>>
Whats the downside to having a more powerful handheld device? You have any idea how fucking cool it is to have a small computer in your hand, that lasts for 15+ hours, browse the internet, play a whole ton of games, use basic office software, take high resolution photos and play music?

Its cool, why not make it better? More ram, better processors, better displays do that.

Im so sick of these fags who post all the time "why is X item a thing, who needs or even wants the stupid X item?"

Its general advancement of technology, go back to shitting in the street pajeet, sorry the tech support job is getting more difficult over time.

tl;dr, its plain and simple better, gtfo pajeet
>>
>>53348344
>photos
yup, but it doesn't have anything to do with what I listed
>important calls
yup, still, you don't need 8 core CPU and fuckload of RAM to do that. My old K850i was handling both camera and calls very nicely.
>games
Nope, I got a thinkpad for that.
>instagram
Lmao, I hope this is a joke
>anything
Not anything, just emails. This is the only additional thing I could think of.
>why not use the best?
Why use the best (most expensive and biggest)?
Elaborate.
