I don't really think anyone here uses XP anymore. If they did, they probably converted to Linux or something.

I-I still use XP on my X60s.

Why would you ever get a 6700k. It's literally a meme CPU

>Muh single threaded performance for gaymen
Get a 6600k for 150$ less

>Muh rendering/multithreaded preformance I need an i7.
You don't need an i7 get a 12 core Xeon for the same price on eBay.

>I do both gaymen and rendering/multithreaded application
Get a 5820k for 80$ cheaper than the 6700k at microcenter and over clock it to get the same performance in single threaded applications and get 50% more performance in multithreaded ones

No way in hell will I buy a 200 watt housefire to put in my mitx build. I7 was a much better choice for me. Maybe in another generation when Intel gets the power envelope down within a reasonable tdp. But go ahead and make another shitty thread to massage your fragile ego, op.

Following wiki instructions and not really understanding the shit your copy pasting won't learn you good either.
Install mint. Then learn to linux. Then install Arch.

>Fuck that shit i want to learn something from installing a distro, not just autopilot
Then you need to install Gentoo using only the handbook or LFS instead of Arch.

Alright, faggots. You're going to take a first-year computer science class at MIT.

https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-
computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-6

Register. It starts next week.

>But Python is for plebs!

Well, good thing that Harvard is running a course that uses C and recommends Linux. No excuses. This one is even self-paced.

https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-harvardx-cs50x

>But muh blub languages!

I SAID NO EXCUSES. Here's a course that uses Scheme. This one is also self-paced.

https://www.edx.org/xseries/systematic-program-design

Those are your choices. If you don't choose any of these, you're a lazy sack of shit.

Even if you already know the basics of programming, you will almost definitely get something out of these if you haven't had a formal education yet. If we do it together, we can make threads about it and encourage each other. I'm doing the third one, and I've been programming for 2 years.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-apple-ransomware-idUSKCN0W80VX
>Mac users have been targeted by hackers with "ransomware" in what is believed to be the first attack campaign of its kind against users of Apple's operating system.

>A piece of "BitTorrent" software known as "Transmission" was infected with KeRanger, so that when Mac users were downloading the latest version of the product, the ransomware was installed on their machine.

>The malware begins encrypting certain types of document and data files on a system and once that process is finished, KeRanger demands the victim pay one bitcoin, equivalent to just over $400

Are Apple finally finished?
19 posts and 3 images submitted.

nah, it was only on through their homepage itself for like 48 hours. if you just updated through the app you're fine and apple has already revoked the app signature.

it's pretty much a non-issue.

I'm interested in buying a fast USB stick that isn't too expensive. What's a good option? I'm looking at the SanDisk Extreme but it appears that it doesn't have the removable bit set, meaning it can't be used as a boot disk.
23 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Why would you want a flash drive as a boot disk? That's what an SSD is for
>>
Don't do what you're planning. It's stupid.
>>
>>53358461
Apparently the Extreme can be configured as a fixed disk with a little work, which will allow you to partition it and use it as a boot disk.
