Are CRTs the best solution for a poorfag looking for amazing image quality?
Or can I get anything better for less than a hundred aud?
Sorry about the mess, was fixing my room up when I took this.

>Are CRTs the best solution for a poorfag looking for amazing image quality?
Maybe, maybe not. At the $100 and under level it's more about luck than any particular design choice.
Look for something well made on the used market. If you can find a 16:10 CRT monitor that would be swell. If you find a 24" IPS LED LCD then that would be great too.
>>54280386
Old dell ultrasharps are
If you are lucky enough to find one. Cheap
And if you are a true bottom tier absolute poorfag, yes, old CRT monitors will provide the best image quality.
You can usually find 20" CRT monitors on craigslist for $20 or less. Sometimes free.
What was your worst technological fuck up, /g/?
When I was a kid my PS2 was messing up so I started slamming it with my fist thinking it would fix it....

>NVIDIA Editors’ Day 2016 will take place next week in USA. It’s a special event for reviewers and technology enthusiasts who are invited for a briefing about new graphics cards. During this day NVIDIA will inform the press about new Pascal-based graphics cards.
>The last major Editors’ Day took place in 2014, a week before Maxwell GM204 announcement. So this should give you a perspective on when to we expect GeForce Pascal cards (I’m thinking maybe second or third week of May).
IT'S HAPPENING
You know after everything's been leaked over the last month I don't hold much enthusiasm hearing Nvidia say the same.
I am so fucking sick of waiting and even in a few months both Nvidia and AMD won't release any decent card.
This FUCKING SUCKS
Is this a bad time to buy a new graphics card?

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

/G/uys, tell me all the good and bad things about Nehalem, Sandy and Ivy era 12" to 14" EliteBooks and 13" and 14" 6series Latitudes (am not into 12" Latitudes because no clit).
Why should I, or why should I not, choose one of those over a T/X of the same age?
These
>Other business laptops
seem appealing to me since, at least where I am (and I have a strong preference to buy locally, not off ebay), they tend to be somewhat cheaper than similar T/X and also because the X230 (which otherwise would be my perfect choice) would make me pay through my nose for a genuine battery if I ever needed a new one, and because it just feels wrong to get an X220 when I can have the Ivy 2570p for about the same money (wayyyy cheaper than an X230).
What I'm curious about most is this:
• How good are keyboards on 2540p vs 2560p vs 2570p vs 8440p vs 8460p vs 8470p vs E6310 vs E6320 vs E6330 vs E6410 vs E6420 vs E6430 vs older E6*** vs pre-chiclet T/X vs T/X*30? Can someone share me some personal experience?
My only reference points here so far are pre-chiclet thinkpads whose keyboards I'm accustomed to and love, an E6400 which didn't feel any worse, and an 8440p which I saw in person today and which felt ok too, in terms of travel and firmness and pressure point or what you call it (even though its completely flat key surface was a bit irritating), and I certainly don't want something which feels notably worse to type on than these.
• Do all EliteBooks and E6*** take 3rd party batteries (unlike T/X*30)? If not all of them do, which ones do and which don't?
• How good are the screens compared between different generations of Latitudes and EliteBooks and to T/X*10/01/20/30 ?
I'm not super choosey on this, I don't desperately need an IPS or some other bourgeois bling, yet of course I'd prefer a better screen over a much worse one.
• Any hidden catches I should look out for? Things like thinkpads' un-unlockable bios passwords, linux support of all sorts, etc.?

How much should I pay for something like this, /g/?
The guide says that W510s are worth $140 - 400, which is a pretty broad range.
Is anyone here excited about the new Tesla?
IMO it really seems as that within 10 years all the new cars will be electric. I couldn't have imagined this two years ago, but this is starting to be very likely.
Yes I'm very excited. But I think the whole Tesla hype is a bit exaggerated, I mean Tesla makes good electric cars but they aren't the only ones able to make good electric cars. By the time the Model 3 is delivered I bet there are several other alternatives with similar specs and similar price.
It's definitely inevitable that EVs are the majority of the market pretty soon. Here in Norway are already over 20% of all new cars sold electric, we've seen it coming for several years already.
Meanwhile OPEC still claims that EVs will only be 1% of cars on the road by 2040. Pretty baffling, they've got their head in the sand.

>By the time the Model 3 is delivered I bet there are several other alternatives with similar specs and similar price.
Yeah, they also made all the plans and other info public so that anyone could make them. However, they have a name built up and a network of charging stations which is set to grow rapidly within the next few years. If I buy a new car it's going to be electric, and it's going to be a Tesla.
>>54271229
Yeah, booked one. Looking forward to getting it.
Is the range really gonna be 215 miles? If so, that'd be GOAT. Currently get about 80-90 miles on my Leaf.
Linux aside,
Can we at least agree that OSX is superior t0 Wincuck 10?
No. They're both cancer.

No

>Torrent sites have traditionally been very popular, but according to a new report published by piracy tracking outfit MUSO, direct download and streaming sites have taken over.

yeah streaming sites and direct downloads are the best bet. cause you can use a vpn if you're that scared of honeypot and enjoy everything with no dmca violation.

What are /g/'s thoughts on the HHKB?
Personally i love typing on it, but with the customs costs the price got very high, around 250 euros and I think it wasn't worth that much money.
Found these today:

I keep seeing people say the otemus are decent in the magicforce, what about the greetechs?

I think they feel like really good slider over dome boards, but wouldn't pay over 100 bucks for one.
It's just a classic price fixing by xenophobic companies. 250 will buy pretty much any switch board short of a beamspring.
Post what you're reading and what we should all be reading.
I read pic related for a course last January. 10/10 would recommend.
Good idea for a thread, OP. My guess is it won't last long though.
But in case it does, pic related includes my initial recommendations.

Sitting here not using Apple products, like usual.
As much as I love to hate on Applefags, this won't really damage their image nor their $$$ value. In several months, once they come out with a new iPhone, their fans will shit their pants and all will be forgotten.

Why is Linus not /g/'s sticky?
- created the Linux kernel
- created the Linux command line
- created tons of Linux operating systems such as Linux Mint, Arch Linux and Gentoo Linux
- build many Linux machines, Linux desktop PCs and LAMP servers that keep the Internet alive
Meanwhile Stallman is "fighting for freedom", or as I've taken to calling it: doing nothing.
You can't even compile the kernel without GNU.
If anyone should be up there it's Bill Gates. He became the richest man in the world and is the living American Dream personified.
Richard Stallman among thousands of other things wrote the initial GCC.
Linux kernel can only be built using GCC (or on a very few specific platforms closed source ICC)
Linus BTFO sucking Stallmans compiler cock for 25 years.

Why is Linux so damn frustrating to use?
because its a new concept to you and you're not devoting enough time to understand and learn how it works.
Using it is fine. Messing with it at even subsurface requires better googlefu.
Not trying to shill, but apparently duckduckgo is trying to improve on this over google, since google is so mediocre at finding relevant forum threads.
Works for me.
