Could VR provide breakthrough treatment for social anxiety?
One could potentially create a safe virtual environment where the sufferer could practice social skills without fear of rejection or judgment.
Some sort of facial muscle movement recognition system could detect the emotion expressed by the user, and adjust the therapeutic VR experience accordingly.
It also could potentially be used for treating other mental illnesses such as depression.
