Is $300 for a T420 a steal? Saw it at a repair/resale shop while buying a spool of ethernet cable. Should I go check it out? I've never really gotten into laptops

Is only $220 and is pretty much as good as they get stock, without dropping a quadcore processer in there yourself. Only thing is it has an hdd rather than ssd, but for like $80 you can get a 250gb ssd.
I wouldn't pay $300 for a T420 unless it at least had an i7 and 1600x900 display.
I have a Thinkpad T440p and I have various questions about modding it and repair
1. Should I invest into ADATA Premier Pre SP310 64GB mSATA SSD? Would it even be compatible? It's only 28 Eur
2. I bought one of those chinese HDD ultrabays for it but it's missing a bezel. How would I go around removing the original DVD-ROM bezel and placing it on the chinese piece of shit?
3. I had an accident with my TP and knocked out the question mark key out of the socket. One of the plastic clips on the key broke, but the key stays in place if I don't press it. Do I need a full keyboard replacement or can I just buy a standalone keycap for it from eBay? I was in official Lenovo repair centre and they said that I need a new keyboard for 120 Eur
4. If I have to replace the keyboard, will the US version of keyboard work on an EU model of the keyboard?
5. Can I use the trackpad from T450 on my T440p? Using the clickpad for a year now makes me wanna neck myself. It sucks so much.

Hey guys, I figured it's time to upgrade my potato laptop due to the immenent release of "no man's sky" on steam to a "gaming" desktop.
Tldr Im pretty ignorant when it comes to computers, and I've got around $850-1000 to spend.
I just dont want to fall for some overpriced alienware gamerfuel meme trash.
The minimum specs for No Mans Sky are:
