just saw a presentation on ruby using vim (C# dev) and it was amazing how fast it could be when using it
Emacs is better than Vim. It does so much more you can full screen it and not have to leave it for an entire day because EVERYTHING is possible.
Dropping the Vim meme and embracing Emacs changed my life for the better. Who even uses Vim anyway apart from pseudo-intellectual arch users editing their hostname and other pointless shitty config files? Bram "CoonLover" Moolenaar but that's about it.

How do I know if I'm ready for a job?
I feel inadequate and am constantly learning despite having been studying for years.
I made a shitty test based CMS with php. Looks cute, but I still feel like a retard when I speak with others who know so much more about a niche language or architecture.

How good are you at PHP? Since you've already worked with it, why not try to master it? Become so good at it that you can code or develop just about anything in that language using a plethora of techniques that maximize efficiency and quality. It's a pretty good way to know you're ready when you can master something.

Just snagged a T420 and installed arch on it. Manjaro specifically as I wanted a quick install to tinker with. I notice a lot of minor issues and wonder if I should try another distro. I have tinkered with settings but when I close my lid it does not properly suspend the laptop. When I looked at the wiki it showed a lot of issues with T420 and functions. Battery charging threshold is among them.
TL;DR Which distro is best out of box for a T420?

I didn't notice much difference between sjwfox and chrome and chrome is much faster. I can use chrome without problems even with 3 GiBs of ram.
