Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux
Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.
Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.
Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

I use Chromium, a superior free software web browser that's had multi-process support for years. Enjoy your beta test. Maybe this year will be the year, right?
Is most of this board underage? Do you not remember the massive shitsorm that started after 9/11 that is still happening to this day? Do you want another 9/11? Do you want more Americans to needlessly die?
The US Government needs access to everyone's data because it needs access to terrorist's data. This means that yes, we can compel you to enter the password on a hard drive with indefinite detention and imprisonment. If you encrypt something and you don't cooperate, you're going in for life, so the idea that encryption can protect you from government intrusion is bullshit. If we want your data, we're getting it. There is absolutely no information in the United States that the United States' Government cannot access given sufficient time and resources.

Give up your fantasies of privacy. We don't care about what porn you watch or the women you creep on. We want to protect America, and that means sniffing every last goddamned packet and collecting all the metadata we can. We have machine learning tools that would make Deep Mind blush, and we are getting smarter every day.
Let us know if any of you experienced developers and computer scientists are interested in a career with us.

Man to remain locked up "until such time that he fully complies" with court order.
>A Philadelphia man suspected of possessing child pornography has been in jail for seven months and counting after being found in contempt of a court order demanding that he decrypt two password-protected hard drives.
>The suspect, a former Philadelphia Police Department sergeant, has not been charged with any child porn crimes. Instead, he remains indefinitely imprisoned in Philadelphia's Federal Detention Center for refusing to unlock two drives encrypted with Apple's FileVault software in a case that once again highlights the extent to which the authorities are going to crack encrypted devices. The man is to remain jailed "until such time that he fully complies" with the decryption order.
>The suspect's attorney, Federal Public Defender Keith Donoghue, urged a federal appeals court on Tuesday to release his client immediately, pending the outcome of appeals. "Not only is he presently being held without charges, but he has never in his life been charged with a crime," Donoghue wrote in his brief to the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals.
>The authorities have called two witnesses. One was the suspect's sister who claimed she looked at child pornography with her brother at his house. The other was a forensic examiner who testified that it was his "best guess" that child pornography was on the drives," Donoghue wrote. The investigation began in 2015 when Pennsylvania prosecutors were monitoring the online network Freenet and executed a search warrant of the man's home.

Note 4. It's plenty capable and has a zerolemon battery available that can be used for days.
Everyone has files that they want to hide. Whether thats pirated movies, private images, or what have you.
I removed the left motor and I soldered my 128gb secure thumb drive to the usb port inside my ps3 controller with a teensy that only powers the stick when Im holding L3. Nobody will every think to connect the controller (to power the teensy) then plug it into the pc and hold L3 (It has to remain held or else the drive disconnects which is secure but really annoying).
Im thinking of where I could fit a full 5.25' drive or maybe a 2.5' because I need more space and a less annoying way to access it. How do you hide it, /g/?
Maybe in the base of a lamp and add a raspberry pi to network share it. Idk.
>>54264682
Put your drive in a bag and put the bag inside the toilet's water tank
> Everyone has files that they want to hide
Eh, not really.
Used to keep some private images on micro SD cards until every SINGLE FUCKING ONE would get corrupted in the span of a couple months. 8gb, 16gb, 32gb and 200gb useless specs of plastic .
Now they're just on my hard drive since I don't really care

I enjoy mine, it's nice to have decent audio quality on the go.
It's great but performance bogs down with large libraries with large file sizes.
