I live in Ohio. I'm 30 years old.
Why are American people so fucking stupid? Nuclear energy is a good thing. Daily reminder:
>Chernobyl has only had 19 proven related deaths
>Fukushima had a 20 foot wall of water
>solar power releases direct radiation off and has killed more people than nuclear
>windmills kill animals, need backup power and have killed people
>hydroelectric is fucking stupid
>coal.....explains itself with millions of deaths
Explain to me what is bad about gen 5 reactors again, I'm drawing a complete blank....
Don't abuse ellipsis

radioactive waste ?
>>54290537
You missed the gen 5 part didn't you?
Produces MUCH less waste than any other power source next to wind

I thought the Fukushima accident had overtaken Chernobyl as the most dangerous accident in the nuclear industry?
Is this line on my hdd platter normal?
it was making a clicking noise as the head moves back and forth between its 2 extreme positions, so i opened it and found this.
Did my head crash?
What do I install to fix this? Or will I have to replace the head?
>>54288756
It doesn't matter. You opened it and it's not contaminated. Even if you fix the crashing head it's still fucked.
Get a new HDD and restore data from backup.

If I install android x86 on a laptop will I be able to install apps on it like tinder etc?
Alright, /g/. This shit puzzles me. I updated my LG G3 to Marshmallow and suddenly a portion of the screen stops responding to touch. I then downgrade thinking it could be a bug with the new OS and the same shit happens on older OS. Is it a hardware issue then? There are no cracks or damages to the screen.
Apart from being a pedophile or a paranoid who thinks the government is watching him?

Seriously why has this become so bad? I used to love the fonts on my 2011 MBP but ever since Yosemite it has gone to shit and looks like a blurry mess and no bullshit font smoothing setting will fix it neither off nor on

French lurker here, I keked hard reading the news this morning:
https://blogs.mediapart.fr/jean-pierre-favier/blog/250416/richard-stallman-pionnier-des-logiciels-libres-la-nuit-debout
For those of you who aren't part of the French speaking master-race:
The autist in chief has joined the bunch of other hippie retards who've been protesting and assembling for weeks to denounce muh freedom being murdered by the State and capitalism and think about how to bring about "a better world" (read "let's try communist-grade regime, what could go wrong?").
It all started when our government drafted a law to reform work regulations and make them a bit more 21st century-worthy.
Nobody's really taking them seriously apart from the media trying to push some agenda, they all look like wimpy hippies, can't seem to fucking agree on anything, each group trying to push its own SJW retardation and it's mostly cute to see them talk about police brutality for being pushed a little hard after throwing bricks at and provoking cops for hours.
They drink beer, smoke joints, burn shit and cars, and play-pretend at democracy and it's rather incredible to hear how oppressed they're supposed to be while still being allowed to do all that.
Anyway, I don't have much sympathy in general for this kind of movement but they lost all respect from me the moment they started to destroy public property and shit up public space.
And now the Great Freetard has joined them, I feel like it makes it all slide into the comedy genre.

>Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Holy shit. They are just as bad as Microsoft. Why are LTS operating systems never stable? They had one job. One job not to fuck it up. Mark Shuttleworth is the cancer of Linux.
You know the really stable version will be 16.04.1? That's the version servers get updates for.
Too much focus on UX, no focus on technology
There's always redhat, which puts literal chimpanzees in charge of UX (gnome) and autists that main windows or OS X in charge of technology (lennart and friends, freedesktop/xdg)

Backups. I'm looking for cloud solutions right now but I don't know which company to trust, regardless of 256 bit encryption, given the lack of knowledge I don't feel competent enough / have enough money to host a owncloud server.
