Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

IRC connection details:
Server: chat.freenode.net:6667 (no SSL, 6697 for SSL) - Channel: #flt
If you don't have an IRC client (which you should), go to https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/flt.

Visit the Friendly GNU/Linux Thread/Website:

Hello friends, Pajeet here requesting some techsupport with my Ubuntu 16.04 install on my Core2Duo laptop. I have the following two issues:
a) On resuming from standby, my WiFi gets disconnected and I have to restart the machine to get it working.
a) For some inexplicable reason, I have to click on 'Log Out...' twice to successfully log out. The first time does nothing.

These issues weren't present on 15.10, which I upgraded to 16.04.

Ubuntu makes your laptop mad because it's for fags. Fedora is for classy men who wear classy hats so it doesn't make your laptop mad.

idk probably remove all bottlenecks between you and the server
relaying cable with an emphasis of lowering distance (this may involve laying cable underground) but more importantly lowering the number of 'hops' between you and your destination. in other words more direct paths through better peering

Why don't you own one?

Because I've been waiting for a model to come out that supports proper (non-wireless) convergence.

I'm also waiting for them to improve general performance. The videos of the Pro 5 & BQ tablet have been super underwhelming speed-wise.

Man, give up on your DDR3 AND 4, that shit came out in the late 90s, early 2000s.

What you're really looking for is DDR X or X2, the whole foot/bar rating system has a major overhaul and there's like, 20 difficulty levels.
