Some sort of privacy would be nice. I don't like the idea of everybody in the world being able to see my IP and what it's downloading in the public swarm.

I had been noticing my server/media PC had been cranking up the fans to 11 any time I watched something so i finally decided to clean it out and upgrade the heatsink. Dust wasn't too bad because I dust it every couple months but then I went to pull the heatsink and after a little wiggling in came out with the CPU attached.
This computer is about 6 years old, my first non-prebuilt that I converted to a media server last year. a 6 year old server with 6 year old thermal paste and it seems to have baked/vacuum sealed the cpu to the heatsink.
The CPU lock is still engaged and there's no damage to the housing or the pins. I just can't get the cpu off. Do any of you know what I can do to unstick it?

Your best bet is twisting the CPU over the surface of the heatsink; that is to say, rotate clockwise. If it's stuck too tightly for you to be able to twist it with your fingers, you can use adjustable pliers for the twisting; but be careful not to damage the pins.

you're working with consumers and shitty consumer hardware.
What you want is to work with businesses. They're more serious about everything and actually have money to invest in worthwhile hardware.
