do you know what a fucking screenshot is?

I use Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS. To me, Linux operating systems seem to be the best-of-both-worlds between Windows and Mac OS X. With Windows, you get good customization with great business tools. However, it's prone to errors and viruses, which also makes it a bad choice for creative endeavors. With Mac, you get less compatible malware and great tools for creativity, but it has less customization options, and it's not a good business computer. With Linux OSes (depending on the distro, of course), you get great customization, business, and creative tools, with less malware, all for free.

I was using Linux before 4chan. My first distro was SuSE 9.0 before the Novell buyout.

Someone who isn't poor. If you pay for things then further products can be developed.

Semi related: why does Microsoft allow pirated copies of Windows to use all the Microsoft services and get Windows Updates?

Wouldn't it be in their best interest to block pirate copies from accessing Windows updates?

>my actual face when Windows doesn't have a first-party or open-source screen recording tool anno domini year of our lord 2014

CamStudio is flagged as malware by every AV

OBS sporadically covers the bottom right of the screen with black bars

screen-capture-recorder just plain fails to record

Windows Media Encoder is from a decade ago and has sub-GIF quality

I forget why Expression Encoder didn't work but it didn't

ShadowPlay only records full-screen, DirectX programs if you have a laptop

This is ridiculous. Do you know how easy it is to do a screencast on Linux?
ffmpeg -f x11grab -video_size 1920x1080 -framerate 60 -i $DISPLAY -c:v libx264 -preset ultrafast out.mkv
. If you use Wayland+Weston, it's even simpler; you just press Super+R.

Please, I really want to know. Does a screencast tool exist for Windows that

- is either from a first party (OS developers, driver developers, etc) OR is fully open-source and preferably libre
- can output lossless or virtually lossless video at native resolution at 60fps without any bugs

>>
i can't get ffmpeg to record X over ~35 fps no matter my settings
>>
>>45391644
Are you using x264 ultrafast? Anything else gives me framedrops (more compression slows the recording down, and less compression lags the system because of the high disk use).
>>
>ShadowPlay only records full-screen, DirectX programs if you have a laptop
What ? You definitely don't need a laptop and there's a record desktop option.

Good
> ASUS ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 Motherboards MAXIMUS VI FORMULA
I very much like the formula boards
> Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3 1600 MHz PC3 12800 240-Pin DDR3 Dual Channel Memory Kit
I'd almost be inclined to recommend 16 gb, but u can upgrade later anyway
> Corsair CX750 Builder Series ATX 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Power Supply
Get a Gold+
> HGST Deskstar 3.5-Inch 1TB 7200 RPM SATA II 32 MB Cache Internal Hard Drive
You can get some very cheap 3tb hdd's
> Corsair Force LX Series Solid State Disk (SSD) 128GB 2.5-Inch
get a 512 ssd. seriously, my 256gb just doesn't do it for me
> ASUS Graphics Cards R9290-DC2OC-4GD5
might be biased fanboy, but nvidia 970/980 are much better.
>>
>>45396213
I've heard that the i7 4790k is really comparable to the i5 3570k in terms of gaming. And that one's way cheaper. Or are you just thinking about the motherboard it attaches to?
>>
>>45396262
Budget is $1600 btw and still missing a CD/DVD drive (Black Friday sales too OP, couldn't find the cheap ones)

I just went out and got one of those new smart toilets everyone has been talking about. Anyone have any recommendations for some must-have apps I should install to this thing? Or just general tips would be appreciated, looking forward to running it through its paces later this evening.

I don't think so.
You may have been sold a dumb-toilet-for-dumb-people by a smart person, but a toilet is hardly smart.
And so aren't you.

That one. I have An older version and a newer version. The newer one has the Vesa mount screw holes higher which was and move imo, but the light bleed is better.
