At night, do you let your computer sleep, hibernate, hybrid sleep or shut down?

Shut down, boot is so fast with an SSD anyway
>>
>>50789288

With my Mac I put it to sleep, as close the lid = sleep mode, and it's fine.

My PC I shut down, as the power light flashing is obnoxious and it keeps the fans on during sleep mode.

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2015/10/final-leaked-tpp-text-all-we-feared

Look at this. Look at what YOU, the chosen people, have allowed to happen. Indeed, from the smouldering ashes of SOPA & PIPA has arisen a new Daemon, one so strong and so overbearing that not even the proud forces of GNU/EFF cannot injure it.

Have you not any shame? Your reliance on proprietary software and the money you freely let corporations take from you have led to this. Has the Way of GNU not taught you anything about self-sufficiency? Truly, you have strayed from the Path.

Reflect on your actions and await your impending doom. We tried to warn you, but your self-absorbed minds simply could not comprehend the wisdom in Our words.

First of all, it's not GNU/Linux. It's Linux.

Intended for users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

If you are serious about switching to Linux, use it exclusively for 2 weeks, avoid windows dual booting for that period of time, or it's likely you will start retreating back to windows instead of getting used to Linux as your new home and working on making it feel the way you want it.

It is recommended to experience distro of your choice in a VM.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R33sFFhgkWk

>Recommended for beginners:
*buntus except vanilla Ubuntu (Unity), LinuxMint, openSUSE

Before asking, please find the answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from windows will be unavailable, (although maybe wine can make up for it.)

I've made this mistake.
Currently have Windows dual booted with Debian and even though I'm only browsing the web, I'm on my Windows partition.

debian is not the right choice for a new user anyway. *buntu for 6 weeks, then debian stable for 10 weeks and then debian testing forever or until you feel the need to install gentoo.
