>no 3d printer thread

I'm thinking about buying a 3d printer here shortly for a vast amount of bad ideas to print. As far as I can tell the best bang for your buck is the MP Select Mini 3D Printer. I was sold by the tech review: http://hackaday.com/2016/06/13/review-monoprice-mp-select-mini-3d-printer/

What are your thoughts /g/? Does anyone here have a 3d printer and wish to offer advice?

Also to note: I believe I could also use http://www.tinkernut.com/portfolio/hack-old-cd-roms-into-a-cnc-machine/ to set up the 3 axis movement, and basically glue a 3d printing pin for less money. but it won't print to such fine degrees that i want.

The best bang for your buck is to build your own. $200 for a 120mm^3 build area isn't extraordinary.

So I do every single Packet Tracer "Skills Assessment" or "Skills Integration Challenge", and master those and only those, will I become good at all the rest of the Packet Tracers simply because the skillset of them will be a subset of the "Skill Integration Challenges"?

These are security camera monitors from 2011

you cant really find them new, for used, try ebay

just "night owl monitor" will be good enough

note: these are not meant to be used as desktop monitors, they have a very low refresh rate and terrible resolution, the whole point of them is to provide basic visualization of what 4-8 cameras are seeing, not to display HD feeds

How do I get this game to run in Wine? My gf ordered a game she used to have as a kid and really wants to play this one but it black screens on windows 10 and open's in wine but gives a render failure

How do I fix this??
>>
Try installing one of the directx9 DLLs in winetricks or playonlinux. Or in playonlinux maybe use an older version of wine until you find the right wine version. Or make a VM of windows xp or windows 2000 or 98 or whatever, enable 3D acceleration and try the game there.

Hey /g/ I'm trying to find a laptop for school. I'm an engineering major and it's to my understanding that some programs we use can be taxing. I also like to game in my free time.

Here are things I absolutely require for a laptop:
- ~$1000 or less
- no larger than 15in screen / 13in prefered
-1080p
- can run source engine games
- can run 3d CAD type programs (not necessarily fast, as I have a pretty beefy computer at home)
- 5+ hours of battery life while browsing the webs / non intensive tasks
- fan dB < leaf blower while doing non intensive tasks (such as taking notes in class, so I don't offend everyone around me with leaf blower sounds)
- no less than 256gb SSD OR a 500gb HDD

Here are things I would like, buy could live without:
- upgrade-able / replaceable internals (I've been looking at some newer thinkpads b/c of this)
-numpad
-light up keyboard (not alienware spec, just would like to be able to see the keyboard at night)
-non-shitty built in microphone (for gayming)
-SD card reader
-hdmi or dvi port
-doesn't weigh a lot

I've looked at t560 , the xps 13 and 15, macbook air (yikes), and Dell Inspirons

I'm just feeling a little lost and overwhelmed with all the different shit that's out there. Any help is welcome

I'm planning on upgrading to windows 10, is there a guide to "fix" it. As in disable the bullshit that comes entail? Also, is classic shell suggested for 10 or is the start bar enough of an improvement over 8?

so does 8.1 but it's definitely better than 7

O&O Shutup10 takes care of pretty much everything.

The start menu is definitely an improvement, I didn't see the need to install anything to replace it.

Meizu 5 Pro Ubuntu edition user here. It's very much a beta OS still. And buying it I expected basically Ubuntu with a touch interface, when in actuality in many aspects it's a different OS, largely due to the fact that they use Mir as the display server.

There's 1 available browser, which cannot store passwords and will not solve image captcha.
The OS doesn't ship with a terminal and you need to sign up for an account with canonical to get it. That said it's a pretty good terminal.
Using apt-get install sometimes breaks parts of the system.
The interfaces is nice, but stutters even with the 5 Pro's impressive internals.
The passcode you enter to unlock the phone is also your user's password and so if you set the phone to not ask for a password to unlock you sudo privileged user will have no password.

When/if they improve the browser and add support for snap packages, which should theoretically eliminate the problems with apt, I'd be happy with it, but so far it has been a big disappointment.

>Window Host Manager is a software program developed by Grayscale. Upon being installed, the software adds a Windows Service which is designed to run continuously in the background. Manually stopping the service has been seen to cause the program to stop functing properly. It adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. Delaying the start of this service is possible through the service manager. The setup package generally installs about 18 files and is usually about 170.43 MB (178,713,295 bytes). Relative to the overall usage of users who have this installed on their PCs, most are running Windows 8 and Windows 7 (SP1). Most users that have installed this software come from the United States. - Read more at http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/window-host-manager-170705-program.aspx
