What's your GPU history /g/ and what's your favourite of all time? What will your next GPU be?

My history is obviously pic related (not including non-gaming or SoC iGPU/APU GPUs).

My favourite has to be the EVGA GTX 680 Classified 4GB. Was such a monster in the day, physically and in terms of performance. Was pretty chuffed when I got it for $400, but saddened to have let it go since it was too big for my mini-ITX case back then. Still, I sold it for $600 so made a healthy proifit.

I'm looking forward to the Pascal GTX X80. Should be breddy gud, if it lives up to the hype

A10 5800k, pretty decent
looking forward to Pascal, Polaris or Zen, whetever comes first and has better performance/price

yes

>>52506101
By reswithing the first one you are having the same odds than switching to the 2nd one, so nope.
>>
It would, based on mathematical chance.
In reality not so much

Is there a video or blog of someone installing Gentoo, going through each tedious step one-by-one. Everything I've found on my own seems very general.

Shit, at least in the generals you can sometimes find some interesting discussion. The non-general threads are all just /v/ kiddos, retard crossboarders and redditors posting dank memes, dumb questions and boring gamer trash.

I hope you used a dead NES for that, it really sucks to see people trashing consoles and stuff for projects like this.

Not op but... You can still sell the parts to other people who wants to fix their consoles. As long as you know how to disassemble the console without wrecking it!

How do i choose a computer related field?

I like programming, not the process of learning, but the act of programming, i'm very interested in robots, AI, new computer hardware for interface, i also like videogames, however i'm not really sure what should i focus in. I study music and play the violin so i can get things done with enough interest, but i'm having a hard time choosing.

Any suggestions?

I think they use computers in laying down water mains, sewer lines, and other stuff they run underground. I think that would be a great choice for a year or two for you OP.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™

Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>They’re really cheap when you buy a used one.
>Keyboards feel excellent while typing (yes, even the newer ones).
>Great durability thanks to the inclusion of rollcages and use of glass fiber reinforced plastic for the chassis. The keyboard is splash proof and spilled liquids will drain out.
>Utilitarian design - e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking solutions that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for almost every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing on the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Why is /g/ so triggered by nodejs?

It's way better than the alternatives.

It's shit.
>>
>>52505063
There's nothing wrong with it, all the hate is just a meme.
>>
>>52505063
No, it's not. JavaScript is a shit language and the only reason Node is popular is because dumb webdev babbies are stupid and lazy and would rather use a terrible language (which is only popular because it was forced down our throats as the only programming language for browsers) instead of learning a new one.

Go, Java, Haskell -- literally any language besides PHP is a better option than Node.JS.
