I don't go on /g/ a lot, so just let me know if this should be in a different board.
Basically, I was looking at my system basic information, and saw that my computer is detecting my 8gb of RAM (4x2gb G Skill sticks), but only 3.9GB is usable (pic related)
What gives? I don't check this often, so I can say how long it's been like this. There've been times where my computer's been slow, but I'm not sure if that was due to this or not. Also, not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but my memory usage shown in task manager is sky high even when I'm just sitting on the desktop (3.35GB average). Are my sticks going bad, or something else? I haven't played with the insides at all lately. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey /g/ I am split between down the middle between one of these two cards for my birthday. Without resorting to savage name calling can you help me make an informed decision on what would suit me better in the long run.
I have i7 and 1080p.

I upgraded to Windows 10.
Then I signed in with a Microsoft Account.
Decided I didn't like that, so tried to switch to Local.
It wouldn't let me keep my name because it was apparently now aliased to the MS account.
Tried fiddling with settings to change it to bypass that.
Account lost admin privileges.
Tried to access hidden admin to bypass that.
Safe Mode was buggy and when I tried to fiddle with it, I got locked out, and the admin lost admin privileges.
Spent hours trying to get around it, including resetting the whole thing, destroying all my installed programs etc.
Achieved nothing.
Finally managed to get Safe Mode to do something and re-instate admin as admin.
But then it added a password that it never told me and locked me out.
So then I disassembled my laptop since I didn't know what else I could do.
What do?

Love them. Had the 280 Pros for 6-7 years before they started fucking up or the cord got fucked, whichever. Since then I've had the 598s and couldn't be happier. Once they break I'll go big time and get the 800's.

That GPU is an integrated one, and an old one at that. In all likelyhood it doesn't support x264/265 decoding, so your processor would matter more.

A used GTX 480 would heat up your room. Although not recommended if your room is small, unless you have some unbaked dough lying around.

I use a 2kw convection heater with two switches, one for a fan and a second just for a convection heating element, not sure how much power either switch uses individually but it gets the job done
