Supporting Free Software is an integral part of building a good future for us and generations to come. Why? The reason is simple. Proprietary ideologies are the enemies of human progress. If we, as a species, cannot contribute to the world, then we will never advance. Transparency is paramount. How can we ensure that the biological augmentations we receive in the future function as they are supposed to without reviewing and auditing the code? Let's say you needed a pacemaker to live. It is sold by a company that has made the source code proprietary and closed. The unit you have is known to have a bug that causes it to give out at random intervals, but this was discovered after your doctor prescribed you this unit. There are no other units available. The company responsible for the production of your unit has simply stated: "We're working on it."

How is this in any way acceptable? Your life is in constant mortal danger because of the company's unwillingness to patch the bug. This would never happen if the code and hardware were released under the GPL.

Build a better future. There is no reason to support the opponents of Freedom.

Alright /g/uys,

I want my tablet to become the ultimate ereading device. What apps or roms would you suggest to get? (Also where to get books maybe)

I want it to last long and accept any file type. The tablet will only be used to browse the web once in a while and read whatever content.

Any help would be appreciated.

How are you storing your ebook files?

Are the files in a dropbox account, inside the tablet's storage or are they linked another way?
>>

Just simple side-loading into the tablets storage.

I can't be bothered looking for it, so pretend I posted an image of the four or five different context menu styles in Windows, followed by a snappy comment about inconsistency.

Is there a reason why 1080p Web-DLs are terrible?

I have a feeling that once optical media like Blu-ray is forgotten, we'll be stuck with poor quality videos and streams. Someone who wants to watch a single episode of The Simpsons without visual artifacts would be a part of a niche group and have to resort to downloading off private trackers from people who have smuggled out source material out of production studios.

A bit of an exaggeration, but what's up with 1080p Web-DLs? Sometimes even the 720p looks better.

The Simpsons is shit after the 10th season.
>>
Another example. Look at those lines! And this is the best version of this episode I can find, it's not like they have Blu-Ray releases.
>>
Here's a 1080p Web-DL release. I'll show a Blu ray release in a sec.

Hey /g/,

Tell me why I shouldn't get an acer chromebook for $99.

I've used a chromebook before and although what I can do is very limited, I was thinking of dual booting with a /linux/ OS.

>>
JUST DO IT!
>>
What do you guys do with a chromebook? Just use remote desktop and streaming?
>>
I'll tell you why you should buy it.

I'm running Xubuntu on mine which I bought this morning for $94. It is pretty sweet actually, and the install was relatively painless. If you use crouton you get a side-by-side with Chrome OS and share the download folder. I like having to start xubuntu manually but YMMV.

The stuff I looked at advised against anything heavier, so I went with a basic ubuntu, xfce-desktop, and pared away everything I didn't need. No hardware conflicts, wifi worked flawlessly.

Go for it man, its capable enough for any sane laptop activity. If you wanted a desktop replacement you wouldn't be looking in the sub $600 range.

Not sure if this is the right place, but:

I'm looking to take online AutoCAD classes in a short amount of time and found Ashworth College that offers certification in it and at a really cheap price at $750 up front.

Is this school legitimate?

Yeah but companies only seem to hire people who are certified. and the only way to be certified from what I can find is through paid courses first.

I've been learning it on my free tie on online courses for free but still.

Hi guys. I just NAILED a technical interview and the company still reposted the fucking offer.

Also, there's an old manager that might be badmouthing me if asked for reviews, maybe because he's the usual spoiled normie asshole that will never ever put himself in other people's shoes if you do something he doesn't understand. That's another story though.

I'm seriously getting paranoid since as I said I fucking nailed the technical questions and they didn't even ask for a personal interview.

I've been sick for a while and I fucking need a job now. What the FUCK do I do now? Cthulu that guy? Claim that he's a pedophile all over the internet? Apologize? Find a way to find out whether it's even him?

For context since I was too mad to even explain myself...

I left the company in bad terms because I was a kid interning and didnt know how to behave + serious personal issues.

He was noticeably mad, I apologized in person though, but he's an asshole that insulted me (not saying names) in his twitter the day he hired me for negotiating the offer.

Is this doable?

Let's say i have a website, with two graphical buttons. If i click on them it will change the content on a subpage. The content is simple text, something like "button1=1, button2=0".
Now here comes the hard part:

the subsite should have no html tags and other bullshit like that, it should just act kinda like a txt file.

Is this possible?

What?

MM is being rolled out right now, there's a huge list already, mainly europe and usa. Let alone Korea, of course.
Then, we're the first one with MM, besides nexus. Stop whining.

There's official support for unlocking the bootloader.

You can root ALL, ALL versions of LG G4.

Fuck off shitter.

More than £100 off.

If you are serious about switching to Linux, use it exclusively for 2 weeks, avoid booting to windows for that period of time, or you are likely to start retreating back to windows instead of getting used to linux as your new home and working on making it feel comfortable

You can safely experience installation process and the basic usage through a virtual machine

How stupid can an /flt/ OP be?

Postan.

I have EXTREMELY poor performance with Firefox on XFCE. Chromium runs just fine, but I hate how gimped Chromium is in terms of functionality. Laptop isn't shit by any stretch, just a Thinkpad X220T.

Anybody have any obvious fixes? it just starts shitting itself extra hard when you have a few tabs open. Hell, it shits itself on one tab. I just get tired of it.

I just uninstalled MATE and installed XFCE over it, but I highly doubt that could be the problem.

I have Debian Jessie.
I have Chromium.

I want Flash or an alternative that will let me play videos at sites that demand flash.

I want Steam.

I've tried a lot of install methods for both things, I never finish them because either it looks like it worked but pages keep telling me I need flash or some error shows up in the middle of the process.

Care to help?
