/g/, I am so irritated and I have no idea what I can do.
I had a laptop computer whose parts were actually falling apart at the seams (left hinge was completely broken; we found small pieces of the plastic from it scattered throughout the case. It was bad.) and last night I put all of the survivable parts of it into the case of another computer. Everything seemed pretty okay last night, sans the processor being a little iffy, but I survived.
Today, I wake up and open my computer and I have this "activate windows" thing on the corner of my screen that won't go away (pic related). I go, "okay", and attempt to activate Windows even though my copy of Windows 10 should technically still be genuine since I didn't do anything to void the 'genuine-ness' of it. I called support, gave them the product key on the case that I'm currently using, and they hang up on me and have not yet called me back. I do not have the product key on the old case with me, but I could probably get that back in a few days if that would actually help me.
Can I survive without a 'genuine' copy of W10, or should I attempt to get the product key back from the guy that has my old case? Is there a way I can make my copy of W10 genuine without getting the old key?
TL;DR: Poorfag can't afford a new computer, fusion-ha'd two laptops together to make something breathable until I can get a new computer in the coming months. Microsoft no likey.

Can you recommend me a new 24-27" display, /g? I'm still using sammy T260 that I bought back in 2008... seems to be ok for my use case. What are the current trends in display tech? From what I hear 4k and all this curved bs is pretty gimmicky. Is it even worth it to upgrade at this point?

Maybe not a pipedream but it seems like new phones are so cheap in the first place that the project lost its luster. Why would you need an upgradeable phone when so many carriers are practically giving phones away now a days? It would have been more sensible if phones prices had skyrocketed and a new phone was $1500.

My first project with this sort of thing.
It's a portable TV set unable to receive over the air broadcast anymore. What exactly were you wanting to do here? You would need a PC capture card most likely with coax I/O. Does that thing even have RCA jacks?
I haven't done much research yet to be honest but my overall goal would be to interface it with my computer to use it as a spectrometer for currently playing music. If not.. somehow use an arduino to program the knobs in the front to create different frequencies.
What's a good desktop environment that's not GNOME? Not looking for a window manager (too much hassle fiddling with scripts), GNOME 3 feels too much like a toy DE and I'm looking for something that looks a bit more professional and minimalistic.
