Welcome to /flt/, we are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
1) Install a GNU + Linux on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
2) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
3) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
4) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux (Recommended for your freedom)
Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.
Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.
Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

I want to get into using gnu/Linux, but don't know where to start? I have an extra laptop to try it on it's a ThinkPad not sure which one I'm going to use yet my blaze it memepad (t420s) or x220 either way anyone have advice for a complete beginner? I was interested in trisquel, but don't know if it's too advance or what? Complete beginner help how did you get into gnu/Linux? How is the learning curve? Where to start?
