Maybe I am too naive, but I don't actually think someone would switch OSs to avoid restarting their computer after updates.

Welcome to /flt/, we are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU + Linux, you can:
1) Install a GNU + Linux on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
2) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU + Linux experience".
3) Dual-boot GNU + Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU + Linux)
4) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU + Linux
Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.
Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU + Linux Thread.
Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

How do I identify which part of this is used to connect with the cell network? Googling what's written in each part didn't help much and the only experience I have is replacing a cleaning a few of the more obvious parts line USB ports and screens. Not asking how to replace the part, just how to identify it in different models.

Your looking for the only chip that has FCC markings and isn't Samsung developed.
Also turn it around and/or literally follow the yellow brick road.
Typically networking is done on the SoC which would mean the Qualcomm.
What phone is this?

Check chip names and numbers, or follow the leads from the sim to whatever.

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

I was mistaken anon when we talked last time. Daily OC 4.5ghz@ 1.34vcore.
Might try to lower that 4.8ghz vcore soon.
The real challenge seems to get my 2133mhz ram stable with the OC.
Out of date. But the cables look better in this one. Also,

Reminder that the floor is lava and if your cables are lying on the floor you are losing sound quality.
You might not believe me but you'd hear the difference yourself if you could afford those anti-floor stands for a reasonable price.

>With Polaris confirmed to use GDDR5, Vega is notable for being the first AMD architecture to use HBM2, and the first parts in general to use HBM tech since Fiji. I’m presuming these are higher-end GPUs to complement the Polaris GPUs (the smaller of which we know to be a low-power laptop design), which is where HBM would be more cost-effective, at least at current prices.
>Meanwhile AMD has also confirmed the number of GPUs in the Vega stack and their names. We’ll be seeing a Vega 10 and a Vega 11. This follows Polaris GPU naming – which has finally been confirmed – with Polaris 10 and Polaris 11. I have also been told that Polaris 11 is the smaller of the Polaris GPUs, so at this point it’s reasonable to assume the same for Vega.
It's over Nvidia is finished
AMD HAS NO GPUS & NO HBM2
AMD IS FINISHED & BANKRUPT
>>53502338
Meanwhile all Nvidia had to show of Pascal is two 980M's on a PCB
>>53502353
And yet Nvidia will be the ones to release cards with HBM2 first, simply for the fact that Samsung are already mass producing them while SK Hynix haven't even really started yet.
And yet another AMD gets cucked episode.
I'm C # and Java developer. I do mostly desktop applications, but I also want to learn web development. I'd hate to started here a flame. But I would like to hear the opinions of those who already have some experience with PHP and C #, which language to choose and why? Alternatively, what would you choose today if you were at the beginning as I am?
If you're learning this for fun you could pick anything like one of the new JS-based shenanigan languages
If you want to use it for a job later then definitely PHP. It's the de facto web server language.
>>53502255
FUCK C#. It has no debugging tools for MPI on GNU/Linux. Fucking no one runs microsoft HPCs.
I hate being tied to shitty legacy code.
You picked the wrong board friend.
If those are your choices, then C# for desktop, php for web. MS MVC/ASP/whatever is a cluster of evil.
inb4 any complaints about PHP being unsecure. It was, but not it is just like any other language that you still have to know what you are doing.
Do you know you can easily download and install windows without paying for it?
So why are you using a linux distro? Is it because it's free as freedom?
Do you know that all distro include proprietary/licensed/patented codes/programs/firmwares?
The tomorrow computer is the cloud with saas and api based services.
Only legit developers will use dev machines like it is with xbox and playstation development.
So why? I need to seriously understand.
because of ricing. Anyone here saying otherwise is a lying cunt. It's literally about being a special snowflake
