Why do so many comp sci profs use Apple computers?
Honest question, I'm curious. Something like 5 of the 6 profs I had this semester had iMacs in their office.
Because they're not as poor as you are.
I wondered the same when I saw my teacher using one. He was running Windows on it though. Maybe the university provides them with a laptop? I don't know
>>54162080
Unix. Literally it's Unix and they were probably old crusty GreyBeards who are upset that Sun doesn't make a desktop anymore so they settled for an imac.
When will USB and micro-USB finally die? USB-C is superior in every way.
>muh reversible
>pandering to incompetent people
>>54160783
Why should them die? There's literally nothing wrong with them.
>USB-C is superior in every way.
More expensive to manufacture.
But I'll agree that it's snazzy.

When will CPU's improve? Where are my 6ghz chips already?
Intel are you even trying? Are you jacking off all day?
>>54152840
6ghz would generate too much heat.
Just buy more xeons goy
>>54152840
It's all about making the same performance with less power now.
Current chips are just as fast as the ones 5 years ago, but use less power doing so.
But fuck me if I dont want a 5GHz stock hex core i5 already.
There's a reason people are still using the 2500k. Those few extra watts only matter to phonefags.
Why is this still a problem with modern plastics?
it's a feature
It's called "patina" and actually gives the hardware "character", shitlord.

Hoo-wee! I can see it's an exciting week for Linux-using apes across the world. It's a brand new version of the African Ubuntu operating system. Let's take a look at these exciting features:
- A updating windowing system, perfect for organizing all your Terminals
- Snap packages: now it's easier than ever to download a dozen drivers and have none of them work
- You'll always have the latest version of FireFox so you can more quickly load the forums that you search for for help
- No AMD drivers, so I guess that means you can't play either of the Linux games that came out this year. Just as well, Linux niggers never have working sound output either, so what's the point?
- It's an LTS, so you'll have a lot of time to practice performing the clean installs you'll do every week.
Now, I was just talking with Cortana about this, I am a deep appreciator of Mother Nature. And there is no species more fascinating to me than the Aust-linux-pithicus. I cannot tell you the joy it brings me to them crawl around on all fours, forever struggling to have a functional computer. I smile when I think about how these ignorant baboons will never have a tight and functional operating system, with great software, touchscreen support, and a beautiful flat UI.
Well, I just got a convenient Windows Notification that I have new mail on my Outlook account. It's the blessed Bill Gates, he's looked at my ASP.NET website and he likes what he sees. I have to go. I wish you coons good luck, let me know how installation is going.

"For years, rumors have circulated about whether or not the software company makes its products so that they die within a few years.
Back in 2014, a PhD student Laura Trucco examined the number of Google searches for 'iPhone slow' throughout the world over the last seven years. Trucco discovered that the search term 'iPhone slow' spiked whenever a new model was launched.
To prove the theory, users of iPhone have conducted tests involving devices running updated versions and older software to prove that the tech giant self-sabotages the out-of-date hardware to encourage people to upgrade sooner."

Checking google trends is not research. Laura is a sjw memer.
>>54160021
There are no sources to Laura's studies at all. This is so incredibly vague it should pretty much be dismissed out-of-hand.
That being said, Apple building devices with planned obsolescence in mind should not be new, or surprising, in the slightest.

Depends on dev staff and if you're working with legacy code.
C# > Java assuming new project, clean slate.
