why would you ever buy a keyboard that advertises flashy colors
>>
>>51245927
Not OP, but I think it's pretty nice looking.

That said; if I had one I'd have the LEDs set to white at the lowest possible brightness.

Now that it's settled for this round that the K70 is shit; what keyboard would be considered good?

I like how the WASD V2 looks.

Mostly interested because I could really use a new keyboard.
My Logitech MX3000 isn't really all that great these days.

I've used a number of text editors over the years: Crimson Editor, Notepad++, Sublime. There are some classic ones that I can manage in, but don't prefer.

Is there any real advantage to going down the vim or the Emacs rabbit hole? Are the solutions offered therein truly that much more elegant than Sublime (my current main text editor)?

There is an advantage in vim in that it allows you to navigate files much faster and macros can allow you to do repetitive actions that would otherwise require you to do copy pasting and a lot of manual editing easier, but you can get fairly solid vim emulation in a lot of other text editors, including Sublime.

I've never used emacs but I hear it's supposed to be better in terms of plugins.

About to do a clean install and have been out of the game for a few years.

Do people still use MPC-HC or have VLC/MPV gotten better by now?

Hello /g/
I want to buy a cheap thinkpad. just as a laptop i can program on and i dont have to worry too much if it breaks. i was thinking about the x61s. the only thing im worried about is only having the keyboard nipple. i like using the nipple but not all the time. is there another laptop much like the x61s but with the trackpad too? also which distro to use. i was thinking debian or something based on debian.

>/g/ how do I become like you?

I don't have a Thinkpad but the T420 is probably the best pick given you don't have severe autism that requires ancient designs.
>>
If you want an X with a touchpad, you will have to step it up to an X201 atleast.

>debian or something based on debian

Are you new to linux? If so -> Mint, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Elementary OS . . .

If not -> Debian
>>
>>51245719

I have used 'buntus for a while. whats different about debian? when i tried it it just seemed less bloated and i had to do drivers manually?

Does anyone know if those pci network cards with thin/thick ethernet connectors provide enough power to drive an xterminal or do i actully need those 70€+ converters to power an xterminal from a "modern" computer ?

explain what you mean with "power"
in case of network speed it should do just fine

Youtube gets really laggy for me in full screen html 5

But I think hardware acceleration solves it.

Is it okay to use that feature at this point? I remember that was frowned upon

If it works for you then you can use it.
If you're using linux then it's not just a case of enabling it in the preferences though.
>>

Using windows7

also it's still funky, it's really laggy when I go fullscreen but it smoothes out after a couple seconds

A warning from Nvidia fag. DO NOT install new drivers on 6xx mobile gpus. New drivers are probably frying memory. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzcrr4AgCQ7KN1JvcEkyTHRjZmM/view?usp=sharing

Currently Microsoft that's why I switched to GNU/Linux full time. I'm using Windows only at work.
>>

I'll have to disagree. You can escape Microsoft's botnet by simply switching your os - don't touch the monopoly subject yet.
But Google is fucking everywhere, regardless your os. Analytics on every page, profiling through web search and web habits, Street view, your browser reporting home, pages requiring a Google account to access them, even our captchas and the cloud meme

Alright /g/entoomen I got a little story for you.

>friend owns pic related
>as far as tech level goes he is 1/10
>knows how to put the disks in and that's about it
>starts hearing things about 4k and how it looks amazing
>wants 4k on his ps4
>then watches a 144fps demo and wants that too
>to not even speak of the hardware, he only has a standard 720p, 60hz tv
>but ok I'll play along
>hatch-idea.deb
>go over to his house and tell him there's a way I can make his ps4 run 4k
>come prepared with this ass old 160gb, 4200rpm, sata1.0 hard drive pulled from an old netbook, and usb stick to install ps4 os
>backup data on existing hdd, switch drives, install ps4 os and restore from backup
>it's now running exactly like before, minus being somewhat slower and having 340gb less space
>hand ps4 back to friend, tell him it should now be running 4k, 144fps and that the reduced hard drive space is just a result of the 4k "program"
>fucking buys it
>powers the thing up and puts in gta5
>him: "hey why are the loading times longer now?"
>me: "oh it's just the 4k textures, you know, bigger file size and all"
>buys it once again
>game finally loads up
>him: "holy SHIT this is amazing! so smooth! totally worth the hard drive space."
>"also, lol, pc mustard race has to pay like $4000 for a 'rig' that can run this but my $350 ps4 can run it just fine"
>go home, have super toppest of all keks

Moral of the story: placebo effect works especially good on consumers who are already good at swallowing loads of shit.
