About 10 times better in plain speech.
In tecnical terms you get 2.5 times the speed and better stability with ethernet

It's inherent to the technology.
>>
>>51518491
Bleed can be avoided if you buy a high-end display, while glow is indeed inherent to the technology.

There were some IPS displays made a while ago that used a special filter to remove IPS glow, but the trade-off was in skewed colors, which wasn't considered worth pursuing.

Wat no ipfs thread?

>What is IPFS?
It's basically BitTorrent on steroids.

>why would one use it
* Distributed, decentralized filesharing (for now - ipfs is merely the communication protocol, and additional applications can exist on top of it).
* You can have a mutable address (i.e. always points to the latest version of a site), or a static address (points to a specific file). Yes, you can host sites over IPFS.
* Peers are found fast for new downloads. You don't need to wait that much to start a download.
* You can watch your animu while it downloads, I watched few episodes that way and it didn't even buffer.

>how to upload a single file
$ ipfs add ./$file
Access it at localhost:8080/ipfs/$outputted-hash
>how to upload a dir
$ ipfs add -r ./$dir
Access it at localhost:8080/ipfs/$last-outputted-hash
>how to make the thing mutable
$ ipfs name publish ./$file-or-dir-hash
Access it at localhost:8080/ipns/$output-hash-aka-peerid (it's ipNs not ipFs)
To update, publish another hash and it will be available at the same IPNS address.

find ~/.ipfs/config -type f -exec sed -i 's/127.0.0.1/0.0.0.0/g' {} \;

Fresh Centos 7 x64 VM. When attempting to view the web interface from other devices on the LAN, I get this. Stuck at 0 connections. Information never loads.

If the connection is viewed from the actual VM, it shows a bunch of connections and IPFS links work. But remote machines aren't able to take advantage of the website.

I'd like to be able to throw this on a headless machine and have it available 24/7 on my ESXi server.

Any ideas?

hi,

got an used 7970, the guy said its not working and only had to pay shipping and packing to him for it, when i recieved it, i plugged it in, the fan is spinning but it is not indeed working, so i took the heatsink off and found out that the thermal paste hasnt been changed ever, it was rock hard, had to soak it up for a while to properly clean it

still not clean enough, but there seems to be a very tiny spot in the middle of the gpu, and a black spot on the heatsink's copper bottom, about 2x bigger than the one on the gpu

is this fixable, or the gpu has had a nano-explosion and the graphics card can go to hall of legends?

it's a launch amd 7970 reference

>>51517748
Thermal paste is typically hard when it's cold and liquidy when warm/hot. It being solid means the GPU is probably dead and not generating any heat when you turned it on.
>>
It's fine, put thermal paste back on and enjoy it while it lasts.

It was probably a *coin miner piecing off his rig too.
>>
>>51517792
I'm illiterate, didn't read that it was kill.

It's definitely something from a mining rig, unfixable

>As a bit of unfortunate news for those with older AMD graphics cards: Crimson on both Linux and Windows has gone away with pre-GCN GPU support. The Radeon HD 5000/6000 series are no longer supported by the mainline Radeon Software (Catalyst) driver, leaving you with Catalyst 15.9 driver as the last official update.

sounds like a good move.

Pruning old, garbage code from your codebase once in a while helps reduce driver filesize and overhead.

Nvidia's done this too, don't fucking act like they haven't.

Both monitors natively support 1440p, 144hz, IPS and g-sync. In 1 corner we have the Acer Z35, OCs to 200hz, curved monitor 2560x1080. The other Asus ROG Swift, OCs to 165hz, flat panel 2560x1440.
