> Why isn't there a good gui installer with pre-configurations?
You should know that windows users are dumb.
The mpv media player doesn't have built-in stats like madvr to see if the config makes dropped frames.
So dumb people are saying bad things about mpv and claiming madvr superiority all the time.
We should change that thing quickly to kill all these directshow packs bundled with adware and spyware.
Badly all windows installer makers like wix, inno or nullsoft are shits, so we need to create one from zero.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Just create a little gui with tkinter and python that downloads mpv archive and extract it somewhere.
Install pyinstaller and create a stupid executable that you put on github.
That's fucking easy, even my 8-year-old cousin could do it in less than one hour.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/internet-security/12069560/Twitter-vows-to-wage-war-on-internet-trolls.html
will this actually affect anything?
It will stop Internet trolls from using Twitter directly. Trolls have to take the effort to create new accounts and get new IP addresses every time they get banned.
>>52064938
you'll have to troll from/on another platform.
it's amazing how entitled faggots can get; thinking you can say whatever you want on github or twitter like it belongs to you and not to the people who actually own a share of those companies. fortunately that delusion is starting to fade.
>>52064938
> the site would give its 320 millions users new tools to protect them from trolls and expose the worst offenders by encouraging people to share lists of blocked users
That sounds like something which is just asking to be abused by /b/tards. Let's hope they create an automated wall of shame where anybody who got blocked by x users ends up on.
Why you're not using Slackware, /g/?
Slackware is the true patrician linux distribution. BSD style package management. Linux hardware support.
>>52064934
why the fuck should I use Slackware?
>>52064970
because you care about getting work done in a comfortable usable environment rather then installing linux as a meme and bragging about how 1337 arch is.

Why does /g/ seem to hate desktops?
It seems like everyone is more in favor of tablets and laptops than a desktop, why? I thought /g/ loved technology and customization.
You can't build a laptop like you can a desktop.
It's because their shitty little T61's can't handle handle Windows and they're too poor to afford a MacBook Pro.
/g/ hates vidya, which is another reason

has anyone gotten mpv hardware decoding working on raspberry pi on archlinux arm/raspbian?
>>52064619
vo=rpi, if i'm not wrong.
Why the fuck would you even use mpv if you're going to use the HW decoder anyway?
https://mpv.io/manual/master/#options-hwdec
vo=rpi
Remember that hardware decoding removes most software filters like debanding. Not that the RPI can use that to it's advantage considering it's an 800MHz ARM processor.

Why does some Windows software work in wine, but others don't? How can you predict which will be which when developing?
Two possible reasons:
- Applications are badly written and depend on undocumented behavior of the WinAPI in order to function properly.
- They make use of APIs or traits of the WinAPI that aren't implemented yet in Wine

There's a worrying trend in our culture of it being okay to not be competent with math. You often hear people say something like "oh I'm just not good at math" or "I'm just math illiterate" or whatever.
The problem is that nobody would say something like that about being able to read prose. Like nobody would look at a book and be like "oh this is all nonsense to me, I'm just not good at that stuff!", or if they did say something like that, everyone's esteem in that person would plummet.
It's socially acceptable to write off poor math skills and general avoidance of math, and that makes it seem like witchcraft when someone is competent with mathematics. People talk about technology like it's all leveraging Clarke's third law ("any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic").
You can argue that "society is fucked", but this is the defeatist autistic person's response. If that's your take, then go hole up in your bedroom, only leaving to don a trench coat and shoot up a school or something.
The constructive path forward is to think about how we can make mathematics and science less mysterious and enigmatic. We need to seriously rethink pedagogy to emphasize mathematics as a fact of life the way reading and writing are seen as facts of life.
How do we do that? I'm not sure, but I think those of us who have some grasp of quantitative methods, mathematics, etc... should be on that page of the conversation and work forward from there.
>>52063162
If you make math easier to understand than those that get millions a year from math won't have a job.
That's unacceptable.
