I hackintosh and it's perfect apart from a VERY rare issue where it reboots instead of waking from sleep. Apart from that I consider it ideal and use it for everything (except gaming of course, still keep a Win10 partition around for that.)
I would not buy real Apple desktop hardware right now because it's all underpowered and overpriced. I would consider their laptops if I were in the market for one.

OpenBSD doesn't like C++ in their core system.
Currently using a thinkpad x301 right now running linux. The macs are becoming a more attractive option for me since it has real commercial support, unlike linux, and it still has a unix environment which is good for development.
I'll probably buy the mbp when it gets refreshed this upcoming spring.
