Is this the future /g/? Instead of buying a new Android phone every 1-2 years we just upgrade the storage instead?

It has always been the future.
>>
Who buys a new phone just for more storage? Plus micro sds have been around for years and years
>>
nobody's buying new android phones just for storage. the battery capacity diminishes over time as a function of use, the requirements placed on the CPU and RAM get higher every day, and at some point when you think the device is safely sliding into your pocket it will in fact be just outside your pocket, and when you let go it'll hit concrete and physically break.

i know a handful of people who have smartphones with removable memory slots. none of them ever uses it except as a last-checkpoint customization option - that is, they buy a memory card when they get the phone and then they put it in and that's the last time they ever think about it. which one they get is determined by how much memory is and how much they're willing to spend. i've even asked people if they've ever swapped cards out, and i don't think anyone has ever said yes (some people try to build up a defense as if in anticipation, saying shit like "no BUT I COULD and that matters a lot to me in a phone").

steal one from your wireless card
or pretty much any other small screw in your laptop
and next time don't make a thread for this low effort of a post.

>Go to hardware store
>Buy a bag of them for a dollar
Problem solved. You'll also have enough to outlast the standard that uses them.

i need a hardware store like yours around my parts.

Hey /g/. Yesterday I decided to pour water on my ThinkPad T420 keyboard to test out the cool water drainage system. As expected, the water drained out the holes in the bottom. It was pretty cool. The computer also turned off and wouldn't turn back on for several minutes. But then it did and it seemed fine.

Today I noticed that the mouse cursor was moving on its own towards the top right corner of the screen, possibly due to water damage. I didn't know what to do, so I wrote a Bash script to counteract the cursor's movement. I moved the cursor to the bottom left and timed how long it took to reach the other sides of the screen, so I had the timing perfect. The cursor jiggled around but with no net movement. But a few hours later I noticed the cursor was moving to the top right again, at a faster velocity than when I first wrote the script with its perfectly calibrated values.

I don't really use the mouse for anything so it's not a big deal. But is there a better solution for this problem?

Next time get an actual well built laptop like a panasonic.

Replace the motherboard because you're a fucking retard and the T420 isn't water resistant

It's so un-ergonomic and doesn't transfer well from other more useful languages.

Whitespace is significant. Other than that it's okay as a scripting language. Has a lot of neat libraries

Sadly this. It's a good language, but if you don't use PyPy, the performance are shit. So if you try to transfer it, it's useless, since languages with the best performance (C, C++, etc.) are very different and you have to rewrite a lot of code

I'm still using a Note 2 and I recently found out it supports up to 2TB microsd cards. Hoping the price of pic related goes down soon so I can buy it. Currently have a 128gb microsd card.

This is what a shill actually looks like ladies and gentlemen.

Notice how the picture he uses includes all the necessary info to sell you on the product?

Notice how he asks a question in the opening sentence in order to put you, the buyer, in perceived control?

Notice how he plasters this image across smartphone related threads, and cleverly attaches it to a screencap of meme arrows to appeal to your emotions?

Notice how he entices you at the end with a mental picture of being able to purchase this product in the near future.

These are all the signs of an actual Samsung employee doing subliminal marketing on a Egyptian mining board.

>>
>>55484251
Hmm I'm not a shill though, just found this image on the /spg/ and thought it was relevant that's all.

Anyway I never said "buy samsung microsd cards now!" just if people here will only upgrade their phone storage instead of their phones now.

Hey /g/, what are the benefits for me to use GNU + Linux?
I use my ChinkPad for
>browsing online
>programming (specifically for FIRST robotics)
>light gayming
>audio/video playback
As of right now I use Windows, and always have religiously. I can't see myself learning how to utilize GNU + Linux, it seems very daunting.

Then don't. Why would you even consider switching? Just run it in a VM if you're curious.

That's why I'm asking...

So I just got a LG G5 a few days ago, and I wanted to have an extra brick. On Amazon I ordered a USB Type-C charger assuming it was just for the fast charging stuff. It came in the mail today, and the brick has Type-C on it too. I don't have any Type-C to Type-C cables, and I can barely find any online either. Why would they make it like this? It makes no sense.

Are you fucking stupid? They probably even had a picture of the product on the Amazon listing of the port.

USB-C to USB-C is what the market is attempting to transition to. It's what Google gives you if you buy a Nexus 6P, it's what motherboard and laptop manufacturers are including on their computers. So, to answer your question, "Why would they make it like this", it's because it's the fucking future; you shit-for-brains retard.

>falling for the USB Type-C "fast" charging meme
My phone charges at a rate of 2A with a standard USB-B charger. It takes less than 2 hours to get to full. And it works with my headphones, tablet, Vita, keyboard, Kindle, and Clip Zip.

Finally India has produced an excellent piece of software: http://enpass.io/

I'm using their local password manager (with a file that can be synchronized automatically or manually by you) and it works better than all other shit available these days (that is either online or looks like shit).

The Firefox addon just words and doesn't submit anything without your interaction, which makes it even safer.

no, you need a 1100w power supply, Nvidia cards are notorious for drawing ludicrous amounts of power.

Hey /g/!
I'm in need of a text to speech program, the less robotic sounding, the better. Can anyone recommend some that I can check out?
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I'd recommend Google.
>>
>>55483287
I prefer having people tell what works well in their experience rather than what google throws at me.
>>
>>55483412
Whatever Google uses for their text-to-speech in Google now is really good. Duolingo's artificial speech does a fairly good job of speaking in the correct accent. I don't know what either of those companies use, but that might be a good jumping off point
