Is there a way to browse things people search for on google?
Can it be sorted by number of searches/popularity?

These both require I search for something, then see information about those subjects.
I want to view what people are searching for, with preference to sort by number of searches.
Unless I am missing how to do that on these.

I know some folks that can do that, here's their info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Security_Agency

Why is there no universal package manager that works on most "mainstream" Linux distros that acts as a wrapper for the distro's native package manager and automatically searches and installs all the dependencies?

It would even work for Pip and Gem and NPM and all that shit.

Why I ask: I've spent countless hours trying to install all the dependencies for the Python module Dryscrape on CentOS 6 for work, it's fucking misery.

why not use a configuration management tool like saltstack, chef, or puppet?

Well shit, that's really cool. I don't think that would work for a Python package though

I'm still running dual gtx 660s, been wanting an upgrade. Is it worth the price?
15 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>55383929
it's a good card but you're probably going to overpay by $100 because of all of the price scalpers.

but it's also a niche card b/c of it's high power. do you have a 1440p or 144hz monitor? this thing is quite overkill for 1080p 60fps gaming.
>>
>>55383968
I currently only have a 1080p 60fps setup, but I would like to leave the option for upgrade open. The 660s are just really showing their age, need more power. Should I hold off for a price drop?
>>
>>55383929
Buy the GTX 1070 but not the ASUS Strix.
Gainward Phoenix GLH and Palit GameRock Premium Edition are the best choice for this card. Just take the one which is cheaper because they both have no noticeable difference so it's whatever.

I have a choice between a new build based on the FX 8350 or just buying a refurbed Dell 990( i7 2600k). I would put in my Radeon 6850 and 650w power supply and just upgrade the GPU later on the Dell for $400 or go for a fresh build with the FX 8350 and maybe an RX480. Might cost me $700ish though.
If I mainly play Skyrim, TF2 and am looking forward to BF1 will this play them at above 30fps?

What's the best android phone for encryption and security? Could I remove the cameras and internal mics, then flash a custom ROM on the nexus 6P to keep my data secure from googles prying eyes? What's the best way to do that?

>>
you cannot own a smartphone of any kind and expect privacy. if you're looking to keep your ass safe, you need to buy a shitty tracfone from 2004
>>
>>55383900
Also, is there a way to run XMPP, and some sort of VPN or other proxy service with my phone?
>>
>>55383916
Tracphones still coordinate signals. i would like to primarily communicate through PGP and VOIP in order to encrypt my data and hopefully thwart those issues.

anyone on /g/ know a good mame or other emulator based front end or linux based OS that's pretty fool proof and supports both mame and console emulation? i've been playing arcade games with my niece on my laptop for the past couple of months when i baby sit her. she's 9 and her parents are computer retarded. they both use their phones and an xbox one neither of them has to my knowledge ever even owned a pc. i've used a few and i put puppy arcade on flash drives all the time for friends after they see mine but i feel like a 9 year old would wind up somewhere in puppy arcade they don't know how to get out of or mess with files they shouldn't,

KDE devs are absolutely horrible with whitespace distribution. Some parts of the UI are packed more tightly than sardines while other elements are like a golf ball in the middle of a football field.

GTK goes overboard with whitespace generally, but at least they're consistent with its distribution.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Tux,
is in fact, GNU/Tux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Tux.
Tux is not a mascot unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning mascot system made useful by the GNU horns, cape
body and a matching set of clothes comprising a full mascot as defined by /gd/.

Many computer users use a modified version of the GNU mascot every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Tux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU mascot, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Tux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the mascot they use. Tux is the sidekick: the mascot in the system
that supports the main hero.
The sidekick is an essential part of a mascot, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete mascot system. Tux is
normally used in combination with the GNU mascot system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Tux added, or GNU/Tux. All the so-called "Tux"
mascots are really versions of GNU/Tux.
