>Google Pulling Out Of Russia Because They Can't Send Data To NSA

No, seriously.

http://privilege.com/2014/12/11/google-russia-engineering/

>Search giant plans to shutter its engineering office, according to a report, after Russia passed restrictive laws on how international tech companies can store data.

> "Most Russians don't want their data to leave Russia for the United States, where it can be hacked and given to criminals... Our entire lives are stored over there," Russian MP Vadim Dengin said when the laws were introduced earlier this year.

What is the best Tablet/Laptop hybrid?

What is the best hybrid that supports android? Windows? iOS?

I refuse to spend less than $300 on this but not looking to get into the thousands. This is a christmas gift for my girlfriend, I'm pretty sure she like Windows (retard) and iOS, but I'm pretty sure there is no Apple hybrids.

Thanks!

Nope. It's a poor match, even if some devices can somehow run both.

Get her a Tablet and a Laptop.

One will run Android, the other probably Windows.

Not be like an overworked corporate drone, and I mean make a decent enough wage, not just like working at mcdonalds or something, but...

I see so many jobs that people have to take home with them, and the cons far outweigh the pros, like being a programmer for example. There are so many more cons to that job than pros. For all the work that you put into the job and 24/7 oncall duty you sure do get treated like shit.

I just want a job where I can come in, do my job, leave and never have to worry about it until the next time I go to work.

I don't really care if my coworker or boss gives two shits about me, as I want to use my freetime to work on life passions and spend time with the family and go on adventures.

I don't want to become that guy that has to work all the time. Just a job that I don't have to take home with me.

The tech industry has a high turnover rate and change is rapid. The job you love today can be gone tomorrow in almost an instant. Don't take anything for granted. Always be prepared.

Anyone remember when Linux used to have a decent, fully-featured UI, complete with window snapping, edge-reaching window control controls, and all of the functionality Windows had and more? Not to mention a total lack of screen tearing which is now the norm with everything except for Nvidia GPUs. What the fuck happened? Were tablets and shit so fucking important to the devs that we just had to transition to a horrible hybrid UI that NOBODY FUCKING USES ON AN ACTUAL TOUCH DEVICE? I'm finally jumping ship after six years on Linux because of this nonsense. I'll keep a low-powered Linux PC around for the odd task but I'm not going to deal with these constant regressions anymore. Linux truly is a server and workstation OS now. The only people who use Linux on their desktop anymore are NEETs with no jobs and teenagers who have nothing better to do and treat it like a hobby. RIP, my once-great OS.

Blame GNOME. Fortunately you don't have to install it. You can use KDE. It's not perfect either, but it's a lot better than GNOME. At least it isn't designed for tablets.

Breaking: Congress passes spy bill giving police unlimited access to communications.

Congress has quietly passed an Intelligence Authorization Bill that includes warrantless forfeiture of private communications to local law enforcement.

Representative Justin Amash unsuccessfully attempted a late bid to oppose the bill, which passed 325-100.

When I learned that the Intelligence Authorization Act for FY 2015 was being rushed to the floor for a vote with little debate and only a voice vote expected (i.e., simply declared "passed" with almost nobody in the room)I asked my legislative staff to quickly review the bill for unusual language. What they discovered is one of the most egregious sections of law I've encountered during my time as a representative: It grants the executive branch virtually unlimited access to the communications of every American.

Not exactly pleasant, I'll agree, and I like to avoid being a completely paranoid nutjob. But, doesn't this just legalize what the U.S. has already been doing for sometime now? What exactly changes?
