>going to the grocery store ever again
http://gas2.org/2016/06/04/walmart-using-uber-lyft-deliver-groceries/
http://blog.walmart.com/business/20160603/piloting-delivery-with-uber-lyft-and-deliv
>Walmart has been expanding the food section in its stores for the past few years. It plans to disrupt the grocery business the way it has disrupted the retail sales sector. Now when you go to a Walmart to buy beach chairs or an oil filter, you can pick up fresh and frozen food for dinner. It looks a little odd to see apples and pears stacked across the aisle from household appliances, but the plan must be working. Walmart is extending its food retailing operations to more of its stores.
>Now, the folks at Walmart are trying another experiment. They are using Uber and Lyft drivers to bring groceries from their stores to shoppers who order online. That way, the customer never has to leave home or fight traffic to get to the nearest Walmart location. Its another example of how the ride hailing economy can be used to make travelling by automobile unnecessary.
>Once an order is placed over the internet. Walmart employees will assemble the choices, bring them to the front of the store, and summon a driver from either Uber or Lyft to take them to the customer’s home. For the time being, the idea is being tested with Uber drivers in Denver and Lyft drivers in Phoenix. It is also partnering with a service called Deliv in Miami. Customers will pay between $7 and $10 per delivery to get their groceries delivered to their door.
they can barely bag my shit when i'm standing right there I don't need some art student lobbing my groceries onto my porch because they didn't want to get out of the car

Why all the hype about chinkpad and no love for the marvelous 6910p /g/?
Because the thinkpad is the choice of laptop for neckbeard linux users.
the hp symbol ruins it
>>55015700
but that hp is cheap as fuck and does the exact same thing as the thinkpads does
I took my laptop in to have the hard drive replaced and the shop said that I'd have to pay $100 extra for Windows to be installed which I can't afford. Is it possible to get Windows 8.1 for free? This is an aspire laptop I only bought last July. But the warranty is voided because I already sent it back to target and they couldn't repair it so they sent me back the broken laptop and refunded me my $300. So am I fucked or is there a way?
>>55015635
install ubuntu
>>55015655
I want Windows 8.1 you can't get the apps you need without Windows or mac operating systems and I'm not going to be going on the deep web of anything illegal.
>>55015713
Beggars can't be choosers, as the saying goes.
But if you really want to have Windows 8 for free, try to pirate it.

sound quality is a weird thing
like 5 years ago I had a cheap dumbphone that came with earphones, they had the best sound quality I've heard so far
then they broke and I haven't found anything as good since

Should have bought superlux at that price range.
Today the standard is black text on white background. We all know that displaying white on a monitor requires more energy than displaying black. Therefore, in our time of awareness it is only logical that we invert the colors. White text on black background is also easier on the eyes.
What does /g/ think? Has there been any calculations made on how much energy this would save on a global level?
So what you are saying is we need more white on black and less black on white?
>>55015362
Normalfags ruined green on black terminals, I don't want them to ruin white on black terminals also.
>have dark css for almost every website, but not google

If you're poor, just get a job. Or make a hackintosh, they're pretty easy to set-up now a days.
>>55015352
>OS X
>on low resolution with low scaling
The only poor person here is you my friend
>>55015352
The default keyboard layout is annoying (" and < are switched and instead of alt, it uses the key next to it to type symbols (@, #, etc))
But if that was fixed, i would happily continue using my hackintosh setup (which works pretty nice.)
>>55015405
How do the two compare these days?
As I understand it, Opera got gutted and basically became a glorified Chrome, and it alienated most of Opera's core userbase.
And Vivaldi seems to be an effort to bring back the features Opera's old users used to love.
Am I ronk, /g/?
nothing will bring presto back, sadly.
>>55015398
Wasn't Presto just the layout and rendering engine? I don't think *that* was what people missed, but the UI and other stuff that was part of Opera, like Notes, torrents, IRC, and "Opera Unite" (if anyone remembers that).
>>55015447
> Wasn't Presto just the layout and rendering engine?
Shit is still much faster today on old/legacy hardware. It was really efficient and capable engine.
>but the UI and other stuff that was part of Opera
With minimal css knowledge you can customize most parts of vivaldi to your liking
>Notes
they got it some versions ago, it's not as robust as it was back then.
>torrents
torrent-client was not needed in browser, imho. It can't even seed properly at the beginning, and if all you need is watch media - you can easily use peerflix for that (regardless of your browser) >IRC
Yeah, wasn't that great/usefull. Mail client on the other hand was perfect.
>"Opera Unite
Cloud without encryption is not needed in first place.
