Why do I care? I keep one good modern phone in my desk with the utilitarian gear i.e. you can take it apart with a philips, dual sim, dual sd, 3.5mm, mUSB, blah blah blah. Keep your flagship flagship, fine, but this isn't the first change to fuck you. That would have been the switch to proprietary usb mass storage.
Since in August I'll be losing most of my Onedrive space, I'm looking for an alternative to sync my shit with the cloud and between devices with ease.

I mainly use Centercode's BetaBound. Unsub from all the bullshit software betas (total waste of time IMO).
Every once in a while you'll get invited to apply directly with a manufacturer on their own beta instance (company.centercode.com) and then you make a user and apply for tests there.
Then if you end up on the really good list at certain companies they just email you and ask if you want to test shit, no application required.
Even Chink Shit General isn't safe from poorly made Chinese counterfeits.

>With Bluetooth becoming increasingly important in our computer hardware these days, general improvements to the wireless standard directly impact products like the iPhone, Apple Watch, and more than ever wireless headphones. The Bluetooth SIG will officially announce Bluetooth 5 next Thursday at a London press event.
>Bluetooth 5.0 will be four times as fast as Bluetooth 4.2 LE, say its developers - that means a maximum throughput of 2Mbps by our quick maths. You're not likely to get up to those speeds out in the real world but it should still be a significant speed jump.
>The other major improvement is a doubling of the range from earlier versions, so theoretically you could be 660 feet (200 metres) or so away from your Bluetooth speaker and still beam a song to it. The exact distance limits depend on the hardware you're using.

>The French government has created a smartphone app designed to send warnings directly to people’s phones in the event of a bombing, shooting or other disaster.
>Two days before the Euro 2016 football tournament opens in France amid a high police and military presence, the French interior ministry unveiled its alert app called Saip (Système d’alerte et d’information des populations), which was developed after last November’s coordinated terrorist attacks across Paris killed 130 people.
>Available in English and French, the app can be configured to receive an alert if an attack occurs near the user. In the event of a terrorist bombing or shooting, the smartphone screen turns crimson and displays the word “ALERT”, a brief description of what is happening and advice on how to react.
>Advice already on the app includes general tips on what to do in other emergencies, such as a nuclear alert, including “take cover in a closed building”, “do not pick up your children from school” and “do not overcrowd telephone networks”.

Twitter works because you engage with it all the time.
This won't work because you don't. You're not going to download and keep an app you don't use, even if it does warn you
> Reddit user sammiesdog discovered recently that Visual Studio 2015 C++ compiler was inserting calls to a Microsoft telemetry function into binaries.
> "I compiled a simple program with only main(). When looking at the compiled binary in IDA, I see a call for telemetry_main_invoke_trigger and telemetry_main_return_trigger.
> I cannot find documentation for these calls, either on the web or in the options page," he wrote. Only after the discovery did Steve Carroll, the dev manager for Visual C++ admit to the "feature" and posted a workaround to remove it.
> A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed the existence of this behavior to InfoQ, adding that the company wil bel removing it in a future preview build. For those who wish to get rid of it, the blog writes:
> Users who have a copy of VS2015 Update 2 and wish to turn off the telemetry functionality currently being compiled into their code should add notelemetry.obj to their linker command line.

doesnt look too bad. is that canary or a flag in release?
So I've been trying vim lately. I really see how it can be useful, but then I don't fucking get it. I don't need a list of key bindings, I have that. The problem is that none of that can be combined in a practical way that would be any faster than just using the mouse in a modern text editor. Examples of things that annoy me in vim:
>Backspace doesn't work in insert mode (might be a problem specific to my installation though)
>You can't use shortcuts to navigate in insert mode, so when you are writing code, and want to move to the end of the line, I need to do Ctrl+c, $, i, which is fucking spastic.
>I never fucking know where paste puts the fucking text. Maybe I'm too stupid, but it always surprises me where it puts the text. Super annoying
>Say I copied some text with y, then I want to paste it. Now I can't delete any fucking thing before I do that, because everything I delete will also be copied which is fucking stupid
>Again, I copied something, but now I want to add a few tabs or something before I paste it. I again, need to go into insert mode, make the fucking tab, go out of insert mode again with that ridiculous "shortcut" and paste it.
Now, I know you will probably post something like "Kys retard", but Jesus, I don't fucking get the enthusiasm for this shitty tool. I really tried, but none of that makes any sense to me. No matter how much I exercise, I'm still at least twice as fast with any other more modern text editor. It's crazy. I'm absolutely willing to see that I'm just too stupid to use vim, but please show me the way if you can. How do you solve above problems?
>Backspace doesn't work in insert mode (might be a problem specific to my installation though)
Works fine on my version, might be caused by something else
>You can't use shortcuts to navigate in insert mode, so when you are writing code, and want to move to the end of the line, I need to do Ctrl+c, $, i, which is fucking spastic.
The End key still works, also Ctrl+c? why not Esc? and how Ctrl+c, one of the most common hotkeys spastic?
>I never fucking know where paste puts the fucking text. Maybe I'm too stupid, but it always surprises me where it puts the text. Super annoying
paste puts the text after the character you're cursor is on. that one messes me up all the time too, but its easy to fix with u, h, p. Yeah, its key combinations but it's not exactly complex.
>Say I copied some text with y, then I want to paste it. Now I can't delete any fucking thing before I do that, because everything I delete will also be copied which is fucking stupid
you have multiple registers that you can paste into. Give http://usevim.com/2012/04/13/registers/ a glance
>Again, I copied something, but now I want to add a few tabs or something before I paste it. I again, need to go into insert mode, make the fucking tab, go out of insert mode again with that ridiculous "shortcut" and paste it.
do you want to indent first? >> indents the line you're on.
If you can't get your head around the modal system or you're just not happy there's nobody saying you have to use vim. Except the assholes in the text editor wars but who cares what they think.
