just go for xubuntu or ubuntu mate, if you choose xubuntu replace the default compositor with compton ang if you go for ubuntu mate activate compiz. If you want add synapse or something similar and choose a nice theme like arc, numix xircle icons are very nice too. If you choose ubuntu use the latest LTS version.
If you know what you're doing, use Arch.
Else, use Xubuntu.

Hackintosh only really works in systems where the hardware is similar or generic enough to match hardware that OS X runs well on officially. Like if you got a T420 with an i5 and the HD3000 and generic pretty much everything, OS X will work more or less fine out of the box.
