Hi /g/

Kinda new to this and finally getting all the parts I need for my first desktop. I'm unsure of what to get for the operating system and what's good or bad. I also still need to find a nice monitor(don't need 4k), keyboard, and mouse to go with it. Does this build look alright and are there any recommendations?

Holy shit what is wrong with redditors? You'd expect coders to know enough about computers to avoid macs.

You're wrong. Macs are great for coding.

Macs have great build quality, sure they are over priced but if you can afford it why not?

Why are you not using tiny core with your choice of de?

Easy to setup and ease of use for most people is based on the de so that's a non issue.

>decent selection of programs
>not resource intensive
>it just werks

>The default desktop takes about 30-40 MB of RAM to get started with 0% CPU usage. With Firefox playing a Youtube video, Abiword, Gnomeric, Nautilus file manager and terminal open, the RAM consumption was 200 MB

http://mylinuxexplore.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/tiny-core-linux-47-review-base-to-build.html?m=1

Currently running tiny core on an old athlon xp-m 2000+ and 512mb ram and it's smooth as butter. Give it a try, boot from a usb or setup a VM.

Can I install LXQt 0.10.0 on it?

And what package manager does it use?
>>
>>52628889
Haven't heard of lxqt but it can run lxde.

Package manager is called appbrowser. Or tce if you just want to run the cli.

How do I turn my programming knowledge into cash without becoming a wagecuck?

Right now I know js and c#. At the moment I'm developing mobile games with unity, I have a strong interest in both android development and servers/backend so I am willing to learn java and node.js respectively.

What's the solution then

I say we make circle and ellipse a specialized subclass of squares, but with bendy edges.

>>
>>52627739
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superellipse
>A superellipse, also known as a Lamé curve after Gabriel Lamé, is a geometric figure defined in the Cartesian coordinate system as the set of all points (x y) with (+ (expt (/ x a) n) (expt (/ y b) n)) where n, a and b are positive numbers
>[...]
>For n = 1 The curve is a rhombus with corners (±a, 0) and (0, ±b).
>[...]
>For n = 2 the curve is an ordinary ellipse (in particular, a circle if a = b).
[note by me] For n -> inf the curve tends to a rectangle with corners (±a, ±b) (in particular, a square if a = b).

Your new hierarchy would have:
Superellipse <|-- Rectangle
Rectangle <|-- Square
Superellipse <|-- Ellipse
Ellipse <|-- Circle
