If you're gonna make a thread, give the specs at least. Also perhaps some details about the price. It costs 9$ in what regions of the world and what quantities do you have to buy ?

Why isn't the trackball meme gaining as much traction as the mechanical keyboard meme?

They are also much cheaper to fall for, since a good one is $60 while a good mkb is at least $150

They're pretty good for production a lot of desks have built-in ones. It's because there isn't enough space for a mouse on some of them

I just bought pic related a few days ago and holy fuck it feels so good to finally have a grown up phone again.

No more fat fingering soft keys while smudging up my screen, no more meme devices that only differentiate themselves with thumbprint readers, 3d touch, and other garbage "features", and no more having to root and sideload neckbeard roms just to get rid of touch wiz.

This is the return of physical keyboards. It's about fucking time!

Is the 750ti a decent "entry level" gaming pc card?

It's on sale on newegg for $99 after rebate, and I want to try to build a gaming PC for under 500.

Im thinking the classic i3/750ti combo. is that still viable? or should I bite the bullet and pay the extra for i5 and a better card?

I mainly want to play Fallout 4, GTA V, and the new tomb raider.
112 posts and 11 images submitted.
>>
An i3/750ti MIGHT play those games at low setting @30fps. Assuming 1080p. I would recommend a 960 for true entry level. i5 would be substantially better but you will notice less gains assuming you keep shadows off and AA to a minimum.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I guess I will spend the extra, since I'd like to get around at least 45 fps on "high" settings 1080p.

Waiting on dat tax refund before pulling the trigger
>>
not to be shilling or anything, but I think the 265 or 260x is the same price or cheaper and provides better performance. if you're getting a decent enough power supply it should easily power those cards.

Intended for users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try Linux, you can:

1) Install a Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
2) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full Linux experience".
3) Dual-boot Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about Linux)
4) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with Linux (not recommended)

Before asking, please find the answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe wine can make up for it.

MMk. What's the problem with a 970? ive read some reviews that say it really only has 3.5GB but other than that i dont see an issue. Its the best card you can get unless you wanna spend 900+ and im definitely not going over my $500 budget on it.

Welcome to /dpt/.

# New & Revised /dpt/ Code of Conduct #
We want to ensure that the /dpt/ community, while large and diverse, remains
welcoming and respectful to all participants. To that end, we have a few
ground rules that we ask people to adhere to.

- *Be friendly and patient.*

- *Be welcoming.* We strive to be a community that welcomes and supports
people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited
to members of any race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, colour,
immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, sex,
sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family
status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability.

- *Be respectful.* Not all of us will agree all the time, but disagreement
is no excuse for poor behavior and poor manners. We might all experience
some frustration now and then, but we cannot allow that frustration to turn
into a personal attack. It’s important to remember that a community where
people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one. Members of
the /dpt/ community should be respectful when dealing with other members as
well as with people outside the /dpt/ community.

- *When we disagree, try to understand why.* Disagreements, both social and
technical, happen all the time and /dpt/ is no exception. It is important
that we resolve disagreements and differing views constructively. Remember
that we’re different. The strength of /dpt/ comes from its varied community,
people from a wide range of backgrounds. Different people have different
perspectives on issues. Being unable to understand why someone holds a
viewpoint doesn’t mean that they’re wrong. Don’t forget that it is human to
err and blaming each other doesn’t get us anywhere. Instead, focus on
helping to resolve issues and learning from mistakes.

Hey, I've got an MTA and an A+ and I was thinking of working from home as my first tech job, since there's nothing nearby.

Is telecommunting an okay way to start to get some experience while I'm working on higher degrees? I'm looking at Support.com since it seems like they'd hire pretty much anyone. If someone's ever worked for them before I'd like to know what it's like.

Or would it be better to just bite the bullet and move for an irl helpdesk/tier 1 job?
