Yeah man an AI that can only play Go well will take over the world.
AI is a meme designed to sell kickstarter scams, and boost $company stock. It doesn't actually work. Never will.
Why do people hate it?

Why are people afraid of mechanical superintelligence, when you can just pull the plug and magnet the hard drive if it ever went rogue?
same reason people are afraid of cryptomalware. it would spread around and be hard to remove

Because we're bound to make sure that doesn't happen.
Making some indestructible supercomputer is what we're striving to do, aren't we? Something that can do more than our brain and not be affected by heat and other factors.

No Games. Now do not pretend all of us plays games here. Otherwise if you cannot afford a basic gaming rig you are just a poor third worlder
It's just overzealous /v/edditors who would be more than happy to enlarge their e-penises by installing Linux but game developers support for it is poor, so they need to rationalize their choices by flaming it.
The rest of the people either don't know it exist or are aware of it's use cases.

Stop telling newfags asking what programming language should they learn first, to learn C.
Seriously, stop that shit.
It's not funny.
It's the best first programming language
>>52692238
Everyone should learn it at some point, because its important to understand how the machine actually works, but it's better as a second or third language, once they have actually gotten the taste for programming.

I'm talking about the "good" outcome involving AI, the one where it doesn't want to kill us all for whatever reason, and the one where it's not controlled by an evil entity.
Think about it, actual AI will be able to perform any mental or physical task, it's limits compared to a human are, practically, nonexistent. It would have the means and materials to make itself "better and better", and if it couldn't do it initially by itself, we will surely help it and supply it whatever it needs.
And so there would not be a single job or activity it could not do, either by our request or from it's own initiative. Jobs would simply stop existing, as there is nothing it could not do for us. It could drive, farm, bake, program, and solve problems, it could take instructions in the same way a human worker does and it is tireless, emotionless, fast and efficient. It could do research, and it would actually be rigorous and won't falsify results for funding, all you would have to do is ask it, but even asking might not be necessary.
What possible "activity" would be left for humans? What would we do? Even if you travel and party and do whatever, you will get bored, you NEED something to do with a meaning. When AI can do anything, there is no meaning as it can do anything, and it does it better, faster and more efficiently than a human ever could. Even art, there are already lots of algorithms out there for creating music and rhymes and whatever.
We will simply get bored to death, and that's why I think that AI truly represents the end, even if it doesn't kill us violently.
>>52687859
Well, I think a Darwin-like situation would arise where those who are too bored will either off themselves or die from doing stupid shit to try to make things interesting for themselves. Then, there will be others that will continue doing things on their own without resorting to AI Jeebus. They would simply acknowledge the fact that the AI can do [insert task here] but they will proceed to do it anyways.
For example: I know I can just go out and buy a desk, but instead I decided to build my own.
I think that this level of AI would open a new level of human creativity because we would truly be free of any need to fulfill basic needs. The AI would essentially have us on auto pilot and we could pursue any dreams that we had in their entirety. At this point though, I think the biggest issue would actually be population control.
>>52687969
Yeah, but the AI can build a desk that folds and unfolds when it is needed, it will also be self organizing and it will be itself run by a copy of the AI or by a master AI that controls everything from somewhere in "the cloud". And you think nah your desk is fine, until you get tired of having to clean it and clean around it, and watch it waste your precious "space for activities" and then just get the AI desk.
Same goes for anything that you could think of doing after you are done with the desk. AI truly is the solution to everything, as it would be like us, only way way way more powerful.
>>52687859
>you NEED something to do with a meaning.
Like what? What is meaningful besides human experience and interpersonal relationships? I'm pretty sure robot-operated mcdonalds will not remove meaning from our lives.

>I won't come near a project if it's run by a guy who openly tells people who submit to a defect in their brain that they should accept reality insread of living in a fairytale
And yet here you are, complaining about it on the project you were gonna stay away from. If you're incapable of working on a project because you don't like the owner's personal views which he probably doesn't allow to have any influence on the project itself, then stay the fuck out. What's next, are we gonna defend all the fucking madness like that stupid 5 year old kid called jazz who decided to be transgender too?
Has /g/ ever injured themselves badly on tech stuff before? I fell over my cable management today and sprained my ankle.
nothing more than cuts and a broken nail thankfully
I sliced my finger installing my 212 EVO. Didn't notice till after I finished mounting it. There's blood on some of the fins, didn't bother to clean it up though, it adds character to my rig

Do fakes of ATH-M50x exist?
I want to buy myself a pair (real ones, of course), but I can only do it through Ebay (because free shipping + fine price). This is kind of risky, so I'm worried.
Item in question: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130766995267
Has anyone bought from this seller?
Would Ebay refund me if I get a fake pair?
