What's the best Linux distro if all I want to do with my computer is watch anime and browse the internet?

Also, if I use a live CD, can I install the whole OS to a flash drive and theoretically use it on any computer?

Any distro that werks out of the box, so Ubuntu and Ubuntu based ones. Google for pictures, try the one you like the most, they all work the same way.

You can always boot from a flash drive, it's just going to be painfully slow.
>>
>>51433635
Xubuntu
Linux Mint Cinnamon

These can be installed alongside Windows to dual boot and test before you migrate.
>>
>>51433635
One of the recommended beginner ones. I would go for mint. Most modern motherboards will boot from USB so very likely yes.

How so?

The difference between a $15 802.11n 1x1 SISO router and a $150 802.11ac 3x3 MIMO router with DFS is certainly noticable in terms of latency and bandwidth, especially if you live in a crowded area.
>>
Do these actually help with latency? Or is OP just a faggot dickriding anti gaymen movement?

If I'm on Wifi I usually get 100Ms of latency, on a wire I get about 40Ms while playing.
>>
>>51433008
Because they're sponsored to shill. They get revenue from Asus for advertising their arachnid routers.

You're not going to utilize 16gb of ram and apus are dog shit when they have slow ram. Get the 8gb kit of 2400 and dedicate 2gb of it as video ram.

Hey /g/, I have some spare money and I was trying to think of things to spend it on, as I am a sheeple consumer. I was thinking of getting a third monitor, but at this point I don't think there's much point. I'd rather replace my second monitor, or spend it on something else entirely.

Does anyone here have a third monitor and find it actually useful?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>51432771
don't buy a third monitor, as you said, it's a better idea to replace your existing ones
>>
Second monitor isn't even useful. I can do just fine without having to constantly fuck around with window placement and fullscreen shit completely fucking everything up, thanks.

Single monitor is best monitor. You need another monitor, use another computer, or better yet, a laptop/netbook.

nice shill attempt

My computer started randomly shutting down today.

At first, I simply rebooted, but then it happened again and wouldn't turn on.

I let it cool for a bit and started it again. I thought it would be fine, but the problem happened again.

So I did a bit of research, and found that it is possibly an overheating issue. I ran SpeedFan, RealTemp, and the temp monitor software that came with my components, and the temperature peaked at 70c under 33% load in RealTemp. SpeedFan i sshowing some goofy shit for AUXIN values, but GPU CPU and System readings are well within tolerances.

Putting my hand on the case, and behind the fan vents, the PSU fan is blowing cold the entire time. The case is a bit hot near the exhaust fan, but it's supposed to be.

My PSU is a Corsair CX750m that's only about 18 months old. It really shouldn't be failing. On the other hand, the computer has essentially been on non-stop for that 18 months, but I've been harder on computers in the past and never run into this issue.

I'm really worried, and I want to know what else I can do to isolate the problem. Unfortunately, opening up the system isn't possible right at the moment. I may do it tomorrow, but it will be a pain in the dick.

Alternatively, are there settings (perhaps in the BIOS) that I can alter to stop the forced shut downs? Is there anything else that could be causing my problem that I'm missing?

Anyone? Help me o/v/-wan kenobi. You're my only hope.
>>
You can spend a bunch of money and get one of these to test your psu.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16899705003&cm_re=psu_tester-_-99-705-003-_-Product

They're kind of expensive for what they are and how often you'll use them.

The best way to test it is to probably open the psu case and look for the capacitors. Look for ones that blown.

If you can't find one that looks out of place you can do a simple test using to forks. Simply place one on each ground for a given capacitor. If they are good you will feel a slight vibration coming from the fork.
>>
>>51432585
>you can do a simple test using to forks.
heh.

any ideas about what else could be causing the problem? it seems to be running just fine right now, although i'm only using a web browser to post here, and running a jewtube video in the background (as well as typical OS bullshit, and my temp monitors). i'm peaking around 6-7% load. fans still blowing cold.

Is it risky to buy used ram? Does ram go bad?

why buy it? just download it for free

RAM is like any other component. Of course it can go bad and of course it's risky to buy it used. Just buy it from a reputable seller or through a service that will cover you if the seller is a liar and won't take it back.
