Hey /g/ so I just installed xubuntu on my T400. It looks nice and everything. My problem is that it seems to be a little slow. When launching the browser to even other programs. Can this be fixed? What could the issue be?

Reduce swappiness

Lol I'm serious. Last time I had xubuntu it wasn't as fucked. Do you think a reinstall would help?

If I am forced to get Windows 10 what is the best version and what do I do to shut down the bullshit?

Pro and Enterprise allow you to shut off the most. Enterprise a bit more so than Pro, I believe, but then Enterprise doesn't get a lot of the same offers that Pro and Home Editions get (e.g, enterprise versions of Windows 7 and 8.1 didn't get the free Windows 10 upgrade offer). So I'd get Pro.

You won't be able to use the latest, faddish games and apps, but there's a shit ton of stuff that'll still run on it. Even the app store says an app requires a newer version of iOS, many will let you install an older, compatible version. ie Youtube.

That's why it makes sense if debian meeseeks brought the rest of them into existence.

Sway is an i3-compatible compositor for Wayland.

https://github.com/SirCmpwn/sway

As of today: wallpaper support (pic related)

Recently: Improvements to multihead support, wayland+cairo client support code, better i3 socket handling, WIP screenshot support, bugfixes.

>sway
what is this exactly
A different wm with the same config or a compositor like compton?
And how stable is it
>>
>>51428176
It's a Wayland compositor, which means xorg is not involved. It uses the same config file format as i3 and supports the same featureset.

It's a WIP but usable as a daily driver (I use it myself). Does not crash in the middle of your session.
>>
>>51428063
getting quite cryptic errors when trying to run it (either from x session with i3 or tty), think you could guess what the problem is?
here are the errors:

Maybe something to do with my display, as it shits at apply_output_config?
Using the default settings file, btw.
Machine is acer c720p chromebook running antergos with sway installed from aur package.

Thanks for the effort, perhaps one day even I can enjoy the glory that is a tiling wm on wayland.

Pls halp me /g/

I've been trying to write a batch script to convert a directory of GIFs to WebMs.

So far I got:
for %%F IN (*.gif) DO ffmpeg -i "%%F" -an -c:v libvpx -qmax 4 "%%F.webm"

So far it works but it renames the output files with .gif.webm

How do I force the output to be renamed to .webm only? I've been trying to find a solution on google for almost an hour but to no avail.

If they work just write another script to rename them.

Otherwise I'd say you need to tweak the last string of your script which is telling it to just append webm to the whole file name. I don't know or care enough about batch scripting to help you with that part though. Shouldn't be too hard though.
>>
Bump, I've had this issue as well. Eventually I just gave up and renamed the output files manually. I'd love to see the solution to this.

So I keep adding on monitors to my PC whenever i am given one.

I have two connected to my GPU (R7 370)
And 2 connected to my Mobo (On integrated graphics Intel HD 4400)

I just got another monitor. It's a small INSIGNIA television that i have hooked up to my GPU via HDMI. (It is saying the display is named NS-19E310A13)

The only problem is, is that my computer wont let me connect it.
I use DisplayFusion for my monitor configuration. So when i go in and try and connect the new monitor, it says its disabled. And when i enable it, it shuts off another monitor. It also does this for Windows 7's default display configure-er.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

>pic not related. Although i am still using those two monitors.

How much of an impact does having multiple fans in a PC have on cooling? I currently have a Corsair H60 attached to my i7 6700k (which is running at ~70C at 100% load). The case is a Corsair 200R.
