Did I just get memed? How is this more comfy? Sure vim is fun, but IDEs come more specialized in the task and many come with vim implemented or as an addon. Is there something I am missing here?
I don't program anything valuable or significant so the "comfy" is just that it's easier. I don't need an IDE and didn't have to actually set anything up.
>>54920439
Wouldn't IDEs be much easier setting up considering there are gui interfaces for everything?
>>54920407
Only comfy in that C/C++ libraries are more available
Any new language like Go has its own package manager so you don't need to worry about it

Is 26 too old to go back to Uni to do a Bachelor of Information Tech?
I feel like an old man
Alright i'm not even a true /g/od but an /adv/-ish anon
You are never too old to learn since there has been many older people than you that still want a degree and want to learn until they die
So please OP, go back to uni because it's never too late to learn unless you're something like 90 years old and can't even type a word
>>54920116
go for it
40 is too old.
Ageism is a thing in IT and software development.
Like a car radiator is like a PC heatsink, purpose is to transfer heat to cool down.

Please go to >>>/o/ and have them explain to you what a retarded thing it is to request digital analogies for a mechanical system.

Why isn't there a P2P (decentralized) time protocol that's active all the time and keeps your your system clock accurate down to the very milliseconds?
This probably isn't a problem with most computers but mine tends to drift slowly over time - it can drift by 4 minutes in a single week.
>>54919987
Because you can't just add "P2P" to something to improve it.
>>54919987
This is already solved by software that checks in with any of the hundreds of servers that promise to keep accurate and precise time. peer to peer setups make sense when the data is too large for any single source to serve, but time is specifically something that goes against all the needs of decentralization; you just want a single authoritative voice on what time it currently is, without multiple sources potentially disagreeing or having to catch up/agree with each other.
This, and perhaps everything else...

What are some good resources for learning C++, but not from total scratch. What I mean is that the author assumes you have knowledge of basic programming principles and you want to learn about how to use the language, not how to program.

Best way to learn C++ is by learning C

Done that, but I want to learn about classes and vectors and shit.

Could it be a good idea that we could add the TMo support to the Wiki?

You would have to take that up with the anon that runs the InstallGentoo wiki
Let's see if compiling from source really is a meme. This is how long it takes to open libreoffice from a binary package on ubuntu.

So apparantly Keepvid is dead, are there any good alternative websites to download videos from sites like Youtube easily? Every fucking site I look for is trying to jew me into installing their garbage downloaders. I just want the direct link to the .mp4's (Flashgot works but the vids never have audio in them).
people use websites to download stuff from other websites? jesus christ.
use youtube-dl. you people are so fucking helpless it's honestly terrifying that this is what counts as a board of tech enthusiasts.
>>54919721
keepvid was great since you got a clear overview of every video and audio stream available, ranked by quality/filesize. it even converted audio/video if desired. i believe it's called efficiency.

Anyone else waiting for the GTX 1060?
Will it out-perform the 970? We'll find out in a few months.
>>54919354
The question isn't if it will outperform the 970
The question is if it will outperform the RX 480
However, to answer your question, what we know it has 1280 shader cores; exactly half a 1080. Considering the 970 performs at 55% of a 1080, it should perform at or near 970 levels, especially as smaller Nvidia GPU's traditionally have reached higher clocks than the larger ones.
I expect the TDP to be around 110 watts.
Do people really buy a new GPU every generation?
A HD 7850 is still fast enough for 1080p.
