WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON /G/
First for Java
Reminder that the only approved language is OCaml.
I am a C programmer.
I do not recognize interpreted languages as valid software engineering tools.
All programs should be compiled and linked to the target processor for optimal performance.
(let's ignore the significant reliability concerns and focus on the positives for once)
128GB Samsung 830, 4 years old, 8TB of writes and still running at 100%
120GB Samsung 840 EVO, 2 years old, only 700GB writes on it.

Four at the moment. Six if you count the two that I have installed in an old system sitting in my closet unused for the past 3 years or so.
One in my desktop, one in my HTPC, one in my laptop and one in my tablet. I'll never go back to a mechanical drive in any of my computers again. The only mechanical drives I still have are the six 1tb drives in my media server.
I have zero reliability concerns. I have yet to have any of my SSDs fail in any of my computers. If and when one does fail, no big deal. I'll just replace it with a new one.
>>52461737
>let's ignore the significant reliability concerns
What concerns? SSDs are more reliable and have better warranties than HDDs.
Anyone here still running their Q6600? Using it for a gaming rig still?????? Q6600 appreciation thread.

What is a DAW?
Digital
Audio
Workstation
>What DAW is yours?
>How long you been on it?
>How long have you been into music?
>What genre do you play with the most?
>What Genre do you think you are best at?
>Have you thought about changing up to something else?
>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?
>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get no where?
Bonus points:
>Has Senpai noticed you today?
1 simple rule I hope you can guys do, please don't be assholes to those who
have a different perspective on another DAW, no matter what it is or how shitty
it is. I know there are some very laughable ones out there but ya know...
So please just be as helpful as you can.
>this is /g/ not /mu/ gtfo
We do not talk about the music as it is but how it's created and what we use and how to help
others get better
Lastly:
Come here if you want to talk about DAWs and other nerdy/geeky stuff:

If I want to make a single global vtable for a specific object struct in my library code, is it advisable to put a single global vtable like this in the header?
Or should I combine the struct declaration and tack on the struct literal initializer list since this struct will only ever be used once.const struct _vtable __GLOBAL_OBJECT_VTABLE = {
&member_function1,
&member_function2,
&member_function3
};

Not sure what private trackers are all about?
The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.
Check out the wiki and update it yourself if you want more instead of complaining like a fucking faggot. https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers

>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before.
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview

I'm getting a weird problem with Foobar2k where it won't do a mass copy+paste into a folder. It worked perfectly last time I did it, but now I can only do it one song at a time. What the fuck?
>>52457826
This might be related - I'm also getting a problem where I can't change a folder from "read only" without it reverting back as soon as I close out of it. Using my dad's old laptop, so I have no idea how fucked it is.
Firefox Adblocker Edge is discontinued, what to use now?
I ditched my mouse long ago and got myself an intuos and then built a 45 degree stand. Now I use it 100% of the time. I'm convinced this is the only way to use a computer properly. Who here /wacom/ masterrace?
>>52457080
Got an Intuos too, and it's great for annotating / drawing.
But for normal navigation, the trackpoint on a Thinkpad is still the most ergonomic device I have used.

I decided to keep it "Linux" so we can accomodate GNU free distros like Alpine Linux.
Intended for users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try Linux, you can:
1) Install a distro on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
2) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full Linux experience".
3) Dual-boot Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about Linux)
4) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with Linux (not recommended)
Before asking, please find the answers to your questions in resources.
Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly Linux Thread.
Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe wine can make up for it.

Last one died, time for new one.
Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>They’re really cheap when you buy a used one.
>Keyboards feel excellent while typing (yes, even the newer ones).
>Great durability thanks to the inclusion of rollcages and use of glass fiber reinforced plastic for the chassis. The keyboard is splash proof and spilled liquids will drain out.
>Utilitarian design - e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking solutions that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for almost every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing on the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

I want to buy new Thinkpad. Coming from X60s, I have three options:
X201, T61 or T400
Requirements? Ability to handle Linux nicely, relatively small (14" screen is the biggest I want). It will be used to programming, watching chinese cartoons and movies, nothing special.
Which one?
>>52455489
x201 is the obvious choice, t400 if you don't have much $ and i'd pass on the t61 since you have to deal with nvidia shitting up and expensive ddr2 ram.
they keyboard on the T420, has to be one of the best keyboards lenovo has ever made, as it's not as mushy as the keyboards on my T400 and T61, and it's just so comfy to type on.
