Hi guys.

I installed Linux (Xubuntu) today but I'm having a bit of a problem.

When I try to upload images to here (using Chromium) there are no thumbnails. In addition, they're really really small.

Any way to enable thumbnails and make them bigger?

Thanks.

I saved a few pics from the front page to demonstrate. Pic related.

Xubuntu uses a GUI toolkit called GTK. The feature you're looking for (and that is absent) is specific to GTK. There are ways for developers to add thumbnails to the file picker, but for some reason it's absent from most GTK applications. People have been asking the Gnome developers to implement thumbnail support for ~11 years, and they haven't - because they're a bunch of intensely incompetent fuckwits.

As far as I know, which file chooser to open is entirely up to the application developers. So, some applications will use the GTK one, some will use the Qt one, some will use the KDE one.

For more info, here's the bug report from 11 years ago:

What? It shows a preview of images in Chromium. Are you talking about seeing large thumbnails like Windows 7?

Yeah the big images like in Windows. Although I'm not even getting the small previews that you're getting.

Year of the Linux Desktop

You have 10 seconds to name ONE linux desktop distribution that can actually be used as an enterprise desktop OS.

>actual installer that isn't complete shit and trainable to tier 1 techs fresh out of high school
>actual installer that doesn't shit itself and crap out at the slightest tiny problem
>proper repository that isn't freetard trash and actually has usable software necessary for office use that can also be installed and fixed by tier 2 techs
>proper office suite
>integrated mail client / calendar
>enterprise management tools
>enterprise update management
>updates that don't break the entire system and run the company into the ground overnight
>defaults to and built around KDE or some other Windows GUI clone because lets face it, nobody has the time nor patience to retrain every fucking employee from the warehouse pullers to the accountants on how to use GNOME or whatever art paradigm design language bullshit some hipster designer is into at the time
>compatibility with no bullshit on whatever flashy brand new bleeding edge turd the CEO decides to buy for checking his emails (cool guy but can't tell the difference between a wifi adapter and usb drive)
>has actual support and longevity and isn't a hobby project that will die if some neckbeard chokes on a burrito in his mom's basement

Happy New Year /g/.

Ubuntu has been a viable replacement for years now

The only thinking keeping it out is MS being a douchebag company and strong-arming Windows onto every computer in the universe.
>>
>>52168189
Damn. Even Win 10 can't do all this shit properly. Definitely not OSX. OP, the OS you seek does not exist.

Sounds a bit like opensuse but the tier one installer is the problem,

So i dug up an old prebuilt I stripped for parts a while back, it has a phenom II x6 on some proprietary HP pavillion motherboard. We stuck new ram, a new power supply and a 7950 in it, but there is no input signal, I fear after years of being in the attic the motherboard or cpu died. I've tried many things to get it to work and I would appreciate any suggestions. Already tried cmos reset, holding power down to clear capacitance, using different video slots, and switching ram ports. The full model is HP Pavilion Elite HPE-410y Desktop PC. Therte is only one green light on the motherboard.

Anyone recommend me some sub £100 watches?

I really have gotten fond with the submariner pepsi bezels.

I also have always liked IWC portaguese style of watches. Too bad I don't have £30k to drop on one.

Hello /g/watch,

Can we talk about dial colours for a moment?

I didn't bother to ask the effay thread, since it usually takes a less than practical slant to things watch.

I was wondering, what dial colour do you prefer or predominantly prefer?

Is your collection (or one watch) of a certain shade or hue?
Do you like that?

Are there dial colours that you would never wear?

Why?

I've found myself always being drawn to the high contrast white on black design.

Typical military application of white/silver hands and white indices on a black dial. The rest of the watch can be whatever, but I generally insist on this.

I just find it so much easier to see. True black (rather than charcoal) is preferred.

I can't for the life of me stand white dialed watches, even though I stare forlornly at Nomos and wish things weren't so (their dark faced models have thin spindly silver hands that don't provide enough contrast nor enough reflection for my liking, as opposed to say, a Grand Seiko mirrored diamond edge hand or whatever).

What's worst of all?

Silver dial, silver hands.
Find it too difficult to tell the time at a quick glance in broad daylight.

A pity, as I do enjoy seeing all the vintage models you guys flaunt on here in that scheme.

I collect pocket watches, and they're all white but as for the watches I'd actually wear around day to day, it's just the ole Orient Mako blueface that breaks my monochrome funk.

Is anyone else as boring as me?
