If you're working with large 4k or large video files, its also probably worth it.

Hey guys, I have a pretty worthless laptop with 4gb ram and 500gb 7500rpm hdd. I am currently buying ram and plan on getting a new hdd or ssd. My question is would an external ssd using usb 3.0 be faster than an internal hdd using SATA?

If you connect it directly to your motherboard (and your motherboard is siuted for an ssd) it is faster otherwise a HDD would most likely be faster

I've been delaying a new build for years, been stuck with a gaming laptop for almost five years. Still don't know what possessed me to get one but I digress.
Today it finally died, it was without a doubt the motherboard, on top of a failing GPU. All my shit is now in limbo and I can't wait any longer.
Fortunately I was waiting for the new cards release from Nvidia so the 980ti price would dive down. However looking at the specs, and since I won't SLI up, I might grab a 1080.
I don't have the luxury of waiting for a Ti release, and I'm not buying for HYPE. I need to build something to replace my fried piece of shit laptop.
I already have a rough idea of everything I want but now I'm struggling with what to get card wise.
Please help, everyday I go without a gaming PC is a day I have to exist in the real world.

why are headphones so expensive? There's no new technology in them. These headphones are considered "top of the line" and still cost 400$ yet they were released in 1997. They are made of cheap plastic and don't use any new technology. Same thing for amp/dacs, old technology yet they can cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Why do audiocucks still buy this crap?

I don't think you understand economics. I would also question your knowledge of what goes into a product, but we'll leave that alone for now.

The prices start for the cheap ones integrated into modern mobos and smartphones, which are good enough for a great number of load cases.
