What have Ars Technica done to their website.
The redesign is HIDEOUS.
>>54513299
Jesus fuck why did they destroy their website.
the design now fits name arse technica very well
It looks like the verge or polygon.
It's rather fitting, since their article quality is on par with the verge or polygon.
I want to run battlefield 1 when it comes out but this is my shitty PC. What do I specifically need to upgrade to run it smoothly on nice settings?

>blazing fast
>all extensions you need (uBlock, Httpseverywhere etc.)

What browser do you guys use on Android? All I really want is something without bloat and with built in adblock and Chrome sync.
I am currently using TugaBrowser and so far I am pretty happy with it.

JS took over the front-end web dev first...
Then node.js came and it dominated the server side stuff
then nativescript came and it dominated the mobile apps
Now it's coming for the desktop:
Seriously, how can other programming languages even compete?
This bitch is unstoppable.
>>54513092
JS is shit, C is a billion times better

Joke's on you Anon, i'm a computer engineer.
Why did Windows ever do this? And why do people still use it?
>>54513018
They practically have a monopoly and never needed to learn how good user interaction works as they can literally do whatever the fuck they want. The worst thing that can happen to them is that users complain a bit and wait a few months longer until they accidentally upgrade. Microsoft doesn't really give a shit. Or at least not as much as a regular company should.
>>54513018
Good thing. These so called "professional" gaymen should get punished. Faggots play games and earn shitton of money because of complete utter retards are "donating for a good cause".
1)Windows 7 is old, the system will only reiceve some security updates and nothing more.
2)There an update that fixes that, for free
3)Microsoft established this update as a recommended update, because a number of reasons
4)Users MUST enable an option to install recommended updates automatically
5)Users gets updated to the new version of Windows according to the Windows Update settings
There is not a single problem with this. But you know, you can't fix stupidity.
Hey /g/. My uncle died and left a shitload of old circuits and cords behind (he installed home phone systems or something). Apparently a lot of this is really valuable. My aunt wants me to sell it all, so I'm identifying all of it now. Some of this is seriously old shit, so I'm curious about antique tech etiquette. A lot of this is in its original packaging, so should I leave it in and make my best estimate of what to sell it as or open it and (still) make my best estimate of what to sell it as? Does it have an effect on the value? Help me sift through this shit, /g/....
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

That's "new old stock".
Technology (except for phones and laptops) generally doesn't depreciate just because someone took it out of the box.
For commercial-grade hardware like that you're supposed to be able to test it to verify that it works before you sell it on eBay or some shit.
Obviously something that works would command a higher price than something that wasn't tested.
Thanks. I'm probably going to test most of this, but some of it I have no clue what it is
Anyone hyped for this?

>Smartphone
>Secure and private
Pick one
Same exact smartphone slab as always.
Why should anyone give a shit?
>>54512942
Well this looks like a better alternative then doing all this stuff manually. Basically a chance for normies to get into privacy. But its a smartphone so of course its not perfectly secure.

Why aren't you using NixOS?
It's not ready yet.

Gentoo is better

I'm waiting on GUIX to reach stable. Using Trisquel for now and reading up on Common Lisp.
How does NixOS and the Haskell-based package manager perform?

I have tons of songs downloaded for offline listening on my phone in Play Music. Is there any way to extract these music files from my phone, or does the app keep them hidden and/or encrypted?
Such is life with Digital Restrictions Management.
>>54512704
I don't think you can do this in the app, but on play.google.com you can right click the song or album and download it.
>>54514217
this is not true
So my mom's son won't stop torrenting at all hours and it's killing the connection. What do?
