WHAT THE FUCK
Do you keep your PC on top of a space heater? Damn son If that's your idle I'd check your shit out and maybe move to Antarctica
how's mine? GPU fan is at 0% and case fans are only at 5v
>plan to build my first PC
>order the case first
>add the components to the build bit by bit over time, as deals appear
>plan to finish the build by the end of the year 2016
Is this a good idea or is it best to purchase all the components with each other or within a very small timeframe?
such a dumb cunt, just fuck off poorfag
If you do this it gives you time to think about your purchases and reduces the chance of impulse buys. It's what I do, to get the best pc I can afford over time
>>52091858
that's pretty dumb t͏bh
you won't have a finished computer for a year, and your existing purchases are becoming obsolete

I like it personally , currently use 22 and only issue I had was VMware and fed 21+ fall out of sync with the cursor, otherwise no problems stability or package issues.

Why do people still recommend this shit? Even Ubuntu server would be better.
It's stable.
>>52091403
are you running stable? you should be running testing for a desktop.
also, backports.
>>52091503
I'm running a server. Why would I want to use an unstable release? The "stability" of Debian is absurd though.
Just got a new Asus Zenbook UX303UA-5DH1T ultrabook.
So far so good. Only downside is the left click is loud, but I guess I can get used to double tapping the trackpad like a modern person.
Otherwise it seems fine so far. I mainly bought this because although I wanted the Dell XPS13 or 15, I couldn't get it with the specs I wanted without spending like 1500 bucks.
The zenbook allows me to have 256GB SSD, 8GB ram, touch screen (not that I really care about that) for about $840 which is much cheaper than what I wanted in the XPS.
I have time to return it though, and I was also thinking about the Toshiba Satellite S55 with i7 processor, 1TB HDD, 8 or 12GB RAM, 4k output, bigger keyboard, 15inch screen.
I really liked the Toshiba, it's specs were better than the zenbook although I really liked the idea of the SSD and the battery life and quietness of this device. Previous laptop was a 19inch screen Acer Aspire and it was great but the battery life was shit and it seemed the Toshiba would be similar.
Also I don't really game on my laptop or do any rendering or serious computer stuff, so all that power seemed a bit unnecessary for me although I did like it.
I have til Jan 15 to return this and get something else so just seeing what /g/ recommends.
Also this is my first computer with windows 10. Not sure how I feel about it, seems like a lot of extra and useless stuff that I don't need. Curious to see what /g/ has to say. I kind of want to use another OS but I've always used Windows and I don't know if something like Linux would be too steep of a learning curve. Like, I don't get this "edge" stuff, there's so many features with windows 10 that I don't think I'll need to use. I like the basic point and click interface of previous windows operating systems.
>>52091238
if you want some serious performance go for the 13 inch retina macbook pro, it has a 27W CPU, not the 15W ULV ultrabook bullshit, it also has iris graphics while 99,99% of ultrabooks has Intel HD. you will pay a little more but it's worth it if you seek for quality. you can always bootcamp and run windows jusy fine on it.
>>52091238
i suggest returning not because of left click is loud but because you have a model which has almost 100% chance for hinge to break, google it up.
they have not been giving a fuck about this hinge problem since intel i5-i7 4000 series and Asus Zenbooks are currently on skylake 6000 series ones with same exact problem.
>>52091334
Thank you, I'm not really a mac guy but would consider that. It's just the price that I'm really hung up about. I don't make a lot of money so this is a huge purchase for me.
>>52091443
Thank you for posting, I did not know about the hinge issue.
Is there any particular laptop/ultrabook you would recommend that is around the $800-$900 price range.
I was going to get the base model XPS13 which is $799 but it only had 128GB SSD and only 4GB RAM whereas the zenbook is double that.
Hey /g/, I need some help.
I'm going to on deployment for a half a year and won't have regular internet access (at least none I want to look up this information on). I've got 2TB of downloaded visual novels / nukige to keep my supplied with fap material. However I don't remember everything about every title I have, usually I look up everything on vndb.org to find what I'm in the mood for by their tag mechanism.
But when I'm on deployment I can't access vndb.org and I'm basically just picking at random hoping something will pique my interest.
vndb.org has an API for accessing their database (https://vndb.org/d11), and there's a way to send a query that'll return the VN title and all the tags associated with it. I want to download that part of the database associating the title with the tags to some kind of file (excel, notepad, doesn't really matter) so I can browse my collection by tags rather than just looking at the title. But the limit of my programming knowledge is writing for and while loops in python. I don't know how to use these APIs to request and save the information from the database myself.
Is there some kind of resource I can look this up myself?
How the hell did you get 2TB of VNs?
>>52090937
I downloaded them. From sukebei.nyaa.org. I would search on vndb.org for what I wanted, copypaste the title into sukebei.nyaa, and away I went. Almost everything is on there except a few things that aren't available anywhere (except dlsite).
Do you know how to use APIs? I imagine there's a way in python but I only have a week to figure this out and make all the requests.
>>52090993
Yeah, you can do it in Python. Their API uses JSON for communication, with a 0x04 character after each command to tell the server you're finished sending that command. What you'd need to do is:
1. Make a TCP connection to port 19534 on api.vndb.org
2. Send them the login command from that API reference page with your credentials substituted in.
3. Iterate over all VN names in your collection
4. Do some sort of fuzzy matching on the names (this is the hard part since I'd imagine lots of them are similar). I'd probably just use their "get vn" command with a partial title (title ~ "osananajimi" in their example).
5. Write the data to a CSV or whatever.
Any links to a good, free vpn? I want to torrent windows 10 but a while back time warner cucks (I use charter why the fuck are they billing me) sent me a bill saying that I needed to pay 30 something dollars because they caught me torrenting full metal jacket, and now I'm pretty paranoid

So 5 years after launch, what exactly went wrong with Bulldozer?
It wasn't Intel
>>52090689
Everything!
>>52090689
Everything will be massively multi threaded within a few years, these new (sorta) 8 core processors that cost the same as a silly intel (actually) dual core will be so amazing that all intel users will soon buy AMD or commit suicide and by then we will ahve 32 core processors which will be so good your dick will fall off.
5 years later, single threaded porformance is still seriously important in most programs that people use. Any application that matters and that does multi-threading properly will be running on a xeon.
