IT "specialist" stories

Most first level IT now a days are idiots if you're talking about a large company.

On another note, Rossman needs more recognition. He's a man with his head on straight who has a lot of good practical knowledge.
>>
>>54809565
IT morons are getting more common with each passing day, and often the dumbest ones are the ones with the most certs and an IT degree.
the smartest IT I've ever worked with are always the guys who were from other fields with better work ethic and enthusiasm to learn.
>>
>>54811434
he's a very smart guy and has a lot of good points, but he gets angry too easily when he's trying to do a task, and there is even the slightest issue. The only exception to that would be his actual bench work.

Asking "Hey guys, what's your opinion on x?" is frowned upon.
Wireless is frowned upon.
Headset requests are frowned upon.
Noise isolation ≠ Noise cancellation
If you dislike a headphone suggestion, try giving a better suggestion to whomever asked instead of going "hurr, brand x sucks"

Wouldn't that fiio thing sound like ass 'boosting' your headphones?

Anyway, my end game. I've spent stupid money on this hobby but i'm now perfectly happy with what I have. Spending any more than what I have is a fucking meme and i'm already sniffing the ring piece of meme territory.

Is there a god damned keyboard out there yet that can beat this?

I thought the Logitech G810 was going to be it, but then I discovered that they don't have onboard memory.

Other keyboards either have shit light colors, are missing media keys, or don't have all keys fully backlit. How fucking hard is this, people?

Those Benrus/Omegas being sold via eBay from Guyana are pretty obviously being used for money laundering imo, the same guy has all kinds of preposterous items listed at such values. Clearly criminal associates of the 100% authentic Nigerian Prince variety are bidding on these items which have the same pictures, paying him, and he's then forwarding the money on their behalf

Someone please give me an explanation on why desktop threads are being deleted.

Desktop threads are literally what got me into Linux, because I wanted to be a cool ass ricer like ahoka.
Without desktop threads I would have never stayed on /g/ this long and never became interested in Linux.

Plz bring them back

It's not technology and they clog up the board more than any other bullshit. I think battlestation threads and guts threads should be deleted too.
>>
>>54829911
they're more technology related than like half the threads that get made here, at least it isn't another Chinese shill general/tech support/build me a pc thread

It isn't hard to understand some people enjoy using GNU+Linux as though it were a video game.
Heck, I am sure there are people like this for every operating system. GNU+Linux just happens to make it more accessible.

I do this for two more days: fiddlefucking with gdb, hard links, gcc linker output, going through countless mailing lists looking for a problem similar to mine.

Something needs fixing? Well, if I have to pick something, I would say they need to give a shit about the high end market again, which is clearly not what they're interested in right now. In their own words, they're interested in 'expanding TAM', which from a business and stock price perspective, is perfectly admirable, but alienates gaymen types.

i fell for the KDE meme.

This is what happened to my panel after adding to widgets, One is completely broken and neither of them can be removed, right clicking only gives me the option to delete the entire panel, in addition it also created a huge gap in between the notifications.

It's also eating up 600mb more ram than xfce...
