I used to think so too until I started getting deeper into ricing. What you don't see behind all the super minimal desktops is the amount of customization and true ricing that went into them. They have keybinds and scripts and managers galore, I would wager that most don't even use their mouse most of the time anymore because of how efficiently they've set up their workspaces.

A lot of people use 4chanX and Oneechan in place of just 4chan CSS (Which I would recommend 10/10 times, especially if you're new to this). It's much easier to get into and use (Plus 4chanX adds a ton of utility to 4chan), not like CSS is very hard though.
I personally use a combination of 4chanX+Oneechan and CSS.
You can find a lot of this on nanami-tan so go check it out.

I already know this. What I meant was, is how they are mainly for looks. When a ricer customizes the desktop, they are only showing what looks consistent with the design of the desktop. I want to see these functioning. Not all programs (that are quite essential) can have a unified design
>>6582167
How can you tell functionality from an image? lol ur an idiot
>>6582167
>Not all programs (that are quite essential) can have a unified design
Yes they can? Have you not heard of a Visual Style?
The point of ricing is for your computer to be not only aesthetically pleasing and have a unified design among everything you use but to increase functionality and make it easier than the average user who doesn't rice.
what font >>6581935 are you using in Nyaa?
>>6581346
Not everyone goes keyboard crazy. My setup's basically completely mouse-driven. It just seems ridiculous trying to organize a ton of windows on a big ol screen with a keyboard. Either you have to fight the WM to get things your way, or you settle for some automatically tiled crap. That just seems retarded. Dragging windows around and resizing them to put them exactly where you want makes more sense IMO. One hand on the keyboard, one on the mouse. That's what I've gotten used to with Blender and it works pretty well here, too.
>>6582204
Have you messed around with AHK for keyboard hotkeys? They're fairly easy to set up and use.
>>6582210
AHK = AutoHotKey? I played around with it ages ago before I switched to linux, wasn't super impressed but it seemed nice enough.

Hey people of /wg/, I will like to rice my Desktop but for some reason I can't really seem to wrap my head around on the steps to do so. I'm running Debain and I would like my dekstop to look like something in pic related. I tried looking at the guides in InstallGentoo, but I feel like I need a bit more hand holding. Any step by step guide of things I need to get my desktop to look like something similar to this
>>6582230
How'd you rice your browser like that?
>>6582288
Most likely firefox+stylish. You can make it look basically however you want.
>>6582167
>When a ricer customizes the desktop, they are only showing what looks consistent with the design of the desktop.
About the only programs that I have that looks inconsistent with everything else is the Steam client since it's stock and msi afterburner for fan adjustment.
A good visual style even on Microsoft Windows adjusts everything.

>>6582431
i think ricing is going over your head anon, you're getting logical answers
>>6582335
You know what I am talking about but I have never come across a good VS.
There's always one little thing that messes it all up, or it can only stay a few colors.
>>6582223
Most DEs and WMs have rather good default keybinds, you can make everything way more comfortable by using those.
>>6582434
>There's always one little thing that messes it all up
Then find a fine one and edit it so it is good.
>>6582265

Do you really need to know the weather?
The swap usage, hardrive space, ram, what is even AC line?
I'd suggest just removing that clutter
>>6582691
Not the guy you're replying to, I don't even use rainmeter myself anymore. I started with the standard clutter, over the years I was cutting it all down, hiding the junk, only having what I needed open. By the end my rainmeter was simply a 3 character temperature readout at the top left of my desktop. That little "15'" was so handy, it surpassed everything else I ever used rainmeter for.
>>6582586

>>6582525

I included all the components etc in the .zip, all you need is to have it installed in portable mode.
>How do I activate different panels?
The Playlists and Lyrics at the top change the main panel.
>how do I add a folder of music post-skinning?
Ctrl + P, Media Library, you can do it w/ the skin as well.
Or you can drag and drop songs.

Well, since you have two clock maybe you could remove the one in the taskbar, and at the same timethe trays icons, the date, etc ...
In general I'm not a fan of side taskbar, because it feels a bit cramped like this, I would usually put it at the bottom, or sometimes Ă the top
