well it's because i used fixed values
you can dl it and fix it yourself if you want to

also the stylesheet was written for chrome so a lot of the sliders may be broken, i can already see the range input has broken style
i may do this in the future when i'll be switching to mozilla and getting a new monitor but right now i dont have the time for it

Definitely change the typeface on 'home', or just remove it maybe. I think white backgrounds for the links with dark text might look better, and of course you need a little space between them and the search box (which you should make transparent too).

>>
>>6564349
holy fuck thank you. Looks amazing.
>>
>>6562001
Oh shit, I forgot about that. Sorry.

Okay, the short answer, for Firefox and Windows only:
Go to "Program files>Mozilla Firefox>browser" and edit the file called "chrome.manifest". Enter the following, with your own path at the end. It must be in the 'file:///' format:

"override chrome://browser/content/newtab/newTab.xhtml file:///C:/Users/path/to/custom/start/page.html"

This is to override the default html of the new tab page. Next, add your folder that the contains the css and the javascript in the following format, on a new line:

"content customnewtab file:///C:/Users/path/to/folder/with/your/css/"

The phrase 'customnewtab' can be whatever you want, but remember what you called it. Note that the folder path isn't directing to any specific files at the moment, just the folder that contains them. It also needs to end with a backslash '/'.
The stylesheets and scripts can't be linked relatively in the html file, so in the html of your own custom new tab page, change the href of the <link> tag to the following format:

href="chrome://customnewtab/content/mycssfile.css"

Make sure 'customnewtab' is the same name you called it before and the 'content' part of the path must be added. Turn firefox off and on, it should hopefully work, assuming I've covered everything.
>>
More detail:
The reason this is so difficult is because of security issued apparently. Having the url being easily manipulated would leave users the little bit more susceptible to phishing. The way I originally changed the filename was using Firefox, finding a file called omni.ja in the install folder, which is essentially a zip file whose contents house Firefox's own start page. The original plan was to keep the file structure and file names, simply swap out Mozillas' start page with my custom start page, which actually worked.

The problem with this is that the file, omni.ja, has to be repacked in a certain way (I managed to do it with 7zip, no compression) and may be overwritten on updates.

A method to overwrite omni.ja files without actually doing any repacking has been implemented by Firefox for plugins and extensions, the chrome.manifest file. There are multiple chrome.manifest files, ones by Mozilla and at least one each for the plugins. More about the omni.ja is here https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/About_omni.ja_%28formerly_omni.jar%29, more about the chrome.manifest is here https://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Chrome_Registration. What I did was tell Firefox, using the chrome.manifest file, to overwrite it's own start page with the one I wanted, keeping the default, unobtrusive new tab url placeholder.

I know this is a long arsed way of doing this, but it's the only way I know how to do it.

I've split the art off into a mini gallery on a neighbouring screen. Can use drag/swipe/arrow to slide between pages.

The transition framerate is smooth in demos, but rather choppy on my whole page, not sure if there's anything I can do to optimize it. :\

Note: no idea why someone posted a picture of a squirrel instead of art.

Sorry mate, had some stuff to take care, thus completely forgot about sharing it !
Here a link for the .rar : u.pomf.is/qzaubb.rar
To be sure it'll work well, you'll first have to install Bebas Neue (https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/bebas-neue) and Meiryo for the japanese font.
This startpage main feature is the button that generates a random background from your the folder of the same name, if you want to change the wallpapers or add some, you'll have to open 'mascot.js' and edit some stuff, nothing too complicated, but if you have any problems/questions, feel free to share it.

>>6574969

Thanks.

I've been getting frustrated lately trying to wrap my brain around beginning coding, when everybody I come across seems to assume familiarity with it. You were just unlucky enough to be the third person in a row to respond to a polite request for info with a hand wave, for whatever reason.

I shouldn't have snapped. I apologize.

I need some help, I can't find the .css file for nightly (for skinning purposes). I've searched the whole Appdata folder and found no css files related to Firefox at all, apart from elemhide.css(don't know what it's for)

>>6575278
there is a specific .css file, chrome or something, but using Stylish and making custom css that way is much much easier.
>>
>>6575170
Just download the thing, you'll find a wallpaper folder with this one
>>
>>6575028
Don't worry mate. "Coding" (since this ishtml and css only) is more practice than other things.

Start checking things like w3school or code academy, and you will see that if you do it a little everyday, you will improve a lot.

Also, this kind of things that involves more design than thinking, requires, well, that same thing, design skills, not coding skills.

Anyway, if you need help, my page is:

container -> list -> element

Then, inside the container, you put the amount of lists that you want, which the whatever items you want.

Looks great. A few tips if you want it.

My transitions are type with exact numbers, but you can change it to percentages (like 5% of the container) or to nothing, which will make it auto. Try that things if you want to keep exploring.

Also, if you don't need a clock, check to make a rss feed. I don't know how to do it though, so I can't help with it.

Okay so I know people keep asking you shit, but you seem like a cool guy. I have 2 questions.

1.- I tried using your FF theme, and theres no button on the tabs for me to close them, I have to right click and select close tab from the context menu. Normally I use keyboard shortcuts but if I'm browsing with an actual mouse it is nice to have buttons. Same goes for not having the min/max/close window buttons. Is this intentional, or did I fuck something up.

2.- When i try to download your startpage from your above link, I just get sent to a 403 forbidden page :/ why

Thanks guy, 1. both were intentional, Firefox replaces window buttons with there own so I removed them, you can bring them back by commenting out the #titlebar-buttonbox selector, same with the close button by finding .tab-close-button.close-icon, you can close tabs using middle click tho.
2. Yeah what >>6584486 said, but the mega link should work.

the icons are way to inconsistent. Would look better if they were all similar size and colour.

Using one of the templates from the github collection. Small images move to show links when you mouse over them.

Added a greeting which changes depending on the time of day.
Currently, the smaller images are all the same but I plan to change them.
