Intel sell K series CPUS which have 'unlock multipliers' in them.

Every AMD thing I've owned has burnt to the ground. I swear.

You should, unless your poor or something.

What's /g/'s opinion on this one?
Is there any money in it for developers?
Is there any decent content for users?

I got mine for free with my S7. Shit is pretty cool for looking at 360 pictures and Google Maps. I got six free games with mine, but I haven't even played them
>>
Got mine with my S7 too.

Miles better than Cardboard in every respect - smooth, responsive tracking, 90 degree fov, and backed up by a company that actually knows what they're doing, to some degree.

The only real problem right now is the dearth of high-quality software, especially games. There's some good stuff on there, don't get me wrong - but there's no real AAA experiences on there yet.

It's got a shit load of potential, though. The bar is pretty low for getting onto the store right now, so devs should jump on this thing. Users will buy whatever's given to em, even if it's a port of Hitman Go or a shitty kart racer that's slower and more boring than 50CC in Mario Kart.

There is a Minecraft port, but it's a bit rough around the edges. Still awesome, though. Someone also ported Quake, and that's quite the experience.

As far as non-game software, there's not much outside of video streaming and 360 photos. The internet browser is unwieldy and doesn't really have any advantages to being used in VR, but demoing the 360 photos to my friends always gets a great reaction.

In short: great device, still in the process of getting the support it needs. There's some great stuff already (Minecraft, Omega Agent, Esper 2, Smash Hit, Herobound, all the Oculus apps) but it needs more software.

Winrar or 7zip?

I'm leaning towards Winrar currently as the superior compression program.

What is a respectable hourly rate for Tech Support?
24 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
In Norway, around 24 USD/hour.
>>
>>54614283
starting out 12
a bit of experience 15
contractor starting out 15-18
experienced contractor 20
get hired in / get skills and big contracts (it gets confusing from here because getting hired in will come with benefits and contracts come with higher salary and you buy your own benefits)

keep in mind if you are contracted through a IT staffing place they are getting like 30-40/hour for you which they pay you out of. You can negotiate for a few more dollars per hour and they still make a shitload of money doing nothing so always ask for more
>>
>>54614306
In Norway 24 bucks is 2 cups of coffee.

RFID cards are a meme to begin with.
>>
It is if you don't have an RFID credit card.

It's easy for normies to mistake the EMV chip cards as RFID chips.

It's very odd because there's nothing stopping my tablet, laptop and any other computer from using those websites. Any ideas on what could be happening?

What does this mean exactly? Could you elaborate more on the symptoms you experience; tell us even the smallest thing you can remember?

For sure , it's really fun. Youtube videos are mostly old and lack some of the solutions. Good luck anon, I'm still stuck at this one. I know I have to change color and change direction at that color in second function but can't figure out correct pattern.

Why are computer professors so boring?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>54614172
Because computers are machines. There's nothing exciting about a machine.
What is exciting is only the content that the machine can display.
>>
>>54614172
because they're computer scientists majors, not pedagogy
if it was their call, they would only do research
>>
All professors are boring. Especially mathematics and physics professors.

But I really enjoyed that complex variables class of a maths professor. Guess it depends upon the topic being taught and your interest rather than the person themselves.

Alright /g/ hopefully someone can help me out. When I export my SQL database it only exports like half of it.

It may be because there are over 1.5 million entries in the database.

Does anyone know how I can export the entire database?

My only other option would be to export it piece by piece but that won't help me when I need to make backups.
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Are you using mysqldump? It won't care how big your DB is.
>>
>>54614175
I have been trying to export it through phpmyadmin. I will have to try that though.
>>
>>54614243
Yeah there's your problem. Also if this is important and you're not doing automatic backups you're going to have a bad time. Check out the automysqlbackup script.

OS X is BSD therefore more secure than Windows.

My windows 10 shat itself after 5 hurtful days. Looking for a new OS now.
Used Windows 7 with LifeStep for a while - like customisation
Like minimalist desktop
Bit of a noob with linux - used custom ubuntu for about a year
Arch looks terrifying but may end up giving a try
Recommended programs and environments (with how to customize them) also welcome

Try manjaro, it's arch but easy to use and is p reconfigured. Its got a bad rep here because arch users want to feel superior and also because their certificates keep expiring, but they're fixing that now.
I'd go with the xfce version over kde as it's more stable and just as practical, most things you need are preinstalled and if you need something there's a graphical package manager
