There is no point with a HMD before it's really light and we have a 4k monitor on each eye. The screen door effect on both vive and oculus is still disgusting, not to mention the low res.

It depends on what you're looking for.
FYI Xcode is the entire development environment and compiler toolchain on Mac, not only the IDE called "Xcode". Visual Studio is somewhat the same, seeing how it comes with its own integrated compiler.

Nothing works because you are trying to run a 2007 OS on modern hardware. Back then, most hardware of the era worked.
Wifi improved a lot though. FOSS graphics drivers which are what you get OOTB improved quite a bit too.

Arch would be cute but failing that just install Fedora. It's pretty good about holding your hand. Make sure you put KDE on it. Also dual boot so that when you realize that OS X is fine you can go back easily.

Clover was suspended from google play and is now available on F-Droid.
Get f-droid here (no root required) https://f-droid.org/FDroid.apk wait for the repo to sync and then download Clover.
If you don't know what F-Droid is, it's an app store with apps that requires the source of the apps to be available, so downloading from it is always safe and free.
