Do you have to be good at math to be a good programmer?
Shut the fuck up and get off my board
>>55234578
You have to be good at logic to be a good programmer.
There are no "logic" courses in high school, but math is rich in it, so if you are good in math, you should be good in programming.
>>55234578
Yes you do.
Hey /g/.
I'm in the market for a new mouse. My Logitech G500 died yesterday. I got a crappy $7 replacement from walmart, but it's obviously not cutting it.
I need a mouse for playing Overwatch, CS:GO and the upcoming Quake game. I've been getting tons of suggestions, but I have no idea how to come to a decision on this one.
I've only had an mx518 and a G500 my entire computer career, so should I just get a new logitech mouse or take a chance on getting some goofy Razer shit or Zowie?
>>55234533
I suggest hp x9000 omen.
Very good mouse, simple, effective, bought it like that, not disapointed at all
>>55234547
thanks, i'll check it out
See if it has warranty and contact logitech.
I told em my g700s left click is wearing down and they're sending me the same model for free. I don't even have to send it in.
What is it like to be a sysadmin? Is it just glorified IT? Do you need high level credentials?

this explains everything

worked for ISP for 2 years
Now linux/win sysadmin for a big VPS company
What are the differences between Ubuntu and Debian? What does Ubuntu add on top of it for example? Does it remove anything?
It adds polish.
It adds botnet.
How do I configure debian to have fonts half as good as Ubuntu?
What do you think of this build, /g/? This is m blackout build. Opted to skip the 6800k and the FE 1070 is only a placeholder atm.
>>55234344
I'm missing something, maybe, but why LGA 2011v3? You're not taking advantage of the bump in RAM capacity, and do you really need 6 cores?
>>55234375
>2011v3
pretty sure the 6800k uses the exact same socket.
>>55234503
Yes, it does, but that wasn't the question.
What advantage to YOU get with LGA 2011v3?
is there a 'chrome extension for downloading 4chan threads' that is at least as useful as 'wget'?
>>55234210
https://www.gnu.org/software/wget/
>>55234210
ok, maybe it doesn't need to be quite as good as 'wget' but at least more useful than saving the html of the specific webpage to disk.
what's wrong with just using ctrl+s
>tfw you see Logan at your local Ikea but are too scared to say anything
Why
>>55234205
Did you at least creepshot some proof for us?
>>55234260
No, unfortunately. He was wearing. Zweihander shirt and was with some Asian girl.
Why does he shave his moustache off like a Muslim?
Looking at HP spectre x360 15 with the i7 6560u. Anyone have or can comment on? Not looking to game just use as a computer for college; notes, programming, projects.
>>55234158
Can't speak to the x360. I have an X2 13" and it has terrible backlight bleed.
But as much as I hate HP, it meets all my needs and was cheap.
>>55234334
I assume that has the u variation of processor. I've looked at benches that put them pretty close to or above similar hq models, but how does it perform while multitasking?
>>55234379
Actually, I have the 5M71 w/ 8GB RAM. Not even i5.
It runs a couple VM's in Hyper-V, with Outlook, Visual Studio, a few tabs, and the PowerShell ISE just fine.
Only place I really notice a difference is in VM load testing.
Should I just go ahead and get the 1070? Or should I bite the bullet and get the 1080 for the extra money and longer wait times. The only difference I can see is .5 teraflops and a slight increase in overall speed. Is it worth the extra money?
>>55234090
I would only get the 1080 if you plan on gaming on 4k.
>>55234090
I have a 1070 and I haven't seen a game I can't run at 1080, 144 with max settings yet.
>>55234090
>a slight increase in overall speed
It's about 20% faster
Will all the summerfags who have not installed Gentoo and probably never will please leave.
You're mucking up this board with unbearable cancer
>>55234079
> Took the Gentoo bait hook, line, and sinker
> Thinks making a thread will get people to leave
> Needs a safe space and things 4chan is that space.
You must be 18 or older to use this site...
>>55234140
>took the Gentoo bait
>must be 18 or older
Just because you're too illiterate and unable to follow a guide you call Gentoo bait? Take your own advice kid.
>>55234157
> Illiterate
> Kid
I don't think these words mean what you think they do.
And the whole point of Gentoo was to do a bootstrap (Stage 1 emerge) and not have to deal with manually patching an LFS system.
Also, isn't it past your bed time?
The FBI is ONE senator short of legalizing the surveillance of all internet traffic without a court order. We know the NSA already does this, but if the FBI gets this power, they'll share that information with any other department. Imagine your local asshole cop being able to look up anyone's internet history, because we're on the way to that with this upcoming bill. Call your fucking senator and tell him he's a piece of shit for breaking the internet http://www.senate.gov/senators/contact/
>>55234076
But anon if you do nothing illegal what are you afraid of?
>>55234094
blackmail over things that aren't illegal, but that people would still be ashamed of. Things that can be used to ruin marriages, get people evicted, etc.
secrets? Not anymore, mother fucker.
>>55234094
You'd better fucking call. Seriously, just leave a voicemail saying you're going to vote against him if he votes for this. It takes 30 fucking seconds, and this is so god damn important
What is the best possible computer I could build for $600 in Canada? Also best I could buy.

This has to be one of the stupidest things ive ever seen, just put a battery on the truck, my god.
If you put batteries on the truck you'd have no room for cargo dude
>>55233981
how about sauce
>>55233987
Yeah man, it would take an entire container full of batteries to power a truck.
I hope I'm in the right board, I'm going to ask about old technology, /g/uys.
I was a child during the pre-"Eternal September" days and we didn't had a PC in my home, much less Internet/Usenet.
If anyone here was there around those days, I'm curious, were people really better controlled (the whole"Netiquette" thing), or was it just a small group of circlejerking who'd kickout the era's "normalfags" every September? What was so different about those days? Besides the lack of video-streaming, easy/fast file...

It had more pedophiles, but was also more innocent and naive. Websites were focused more around providing content rather than ads, you appreciated your downloads because your favorite Brittney spears tracks would take 3-4 days downloading on dialup from limewire. There was more focus around privacy.
I preferred it back then 2bh, it's just too convenient now.
It was like going to an abandoned library frequented by autistic hobos.
I miss it.
Some random thoughts
-More weirdos, and especially more people who would roleplay as a character all of the time
-No one cared about piracy at all.
-People understood the phrase "Don't feed the troll", and you could get banned for doing it.
-IRC was always a pain in the ass but most of the good stuff came from there
SHOULD I GET THESE
I bet you're a dumb makiposter too
