So I got this grundig G5 radio for free at a garage sell to put on my desk at work. I thought it was just a radio but this this is selling for 150$ on eBay. What the hell else is this used for? What else can I do with it other than listening to my shitty local stations? Pic related.

Grundig used to make some of the best radios around, so they cost a lot just on name/history alone, and there are people who collect them.
You can listen to a much wider frequency range than with a normal radio (short wave ...).

So I fell for the FreeSync meme, will it actually be smoother at around framerates between 60-144?

Freesync is SW solutiom compared to Nvidia HW solution. As much as I am going to get shat on, HW solution generaly works better.
Now to the point. It removes screen tearing which occurs during v-sync off and also removes screen stutter which occurs during v-sync on. So think about it as an improved v-sync. 30fps still looks like 30fps and is inferior to 60fps but minus tearing and stutter.
Its a luxury, a little overpriced but it works.
