The danger of static electricity when building a computer. Is it overstated?

Some people say I need one of those dumb wrist straps and an anti-static mat. Others say I can get away with just touching the chassis often.

It's overstated up until the moment you fry your shiny new toy before you've even turned it on.
>>
I've never seen it or had equipment fried by it and I've built dozens of computers

If you are serious about switching to Linux, use it exclusively for 2 weeks.
Avoid booting to windows for that period of time, or you are likely to start retreating back to it instead of getting used to linux as your new home and working on making it feel comfortable

You can safely experience installation process and the basic usage through a virtual machine

Sooo where do all these memes about Loonix come from?
From what I recall it's roughly the same installation process for 3rd party software as in Windows or OS X, the only difference being that Linux actually tells you what packages it installs.

Any winfag care enough to explain?

Hey /g/
I'm looking for the most secure rom out there which should also have these features:

Hidden-TrueCrypt partition on SD card.
Fully encrypted memory

Tor network enabler with apps for the various anon services on onion networks (such as torchat, onionmail, etc.)
Location scrambler
Strict firewall with easy enable/disable mode
Remote lock-down

Anyone knows of one ?

Which one should I go for?

Some extra info: the 390 is around 40-50€ more expensive for a decent implementation and would require me to spend an extra 50-60€ for a better PSU. So, the 390 would cost ~450€ in total with a new PSU while the 970 would cost 350-365€ and I would reuse my current PSU.

Thoughts?

What psu do you have currently?

Reasons to consider 970:
>Obviously the cheaper option
>Won't get fucked over by nvidia optimized games
>Not AMD

Reasons to consider 390:
>8gb rather than 3.5gb
>Better card
>Good value for money
>>
3 + 9 + 0 = 12
9 + 7 + 0 = 16
higher number must be better
>>
>>52419606
390 will be better in the future because of VRAM, better for multi monitor, and honestly a nice card. Drivers are just hot memes desu, I didn't even realize there was a new driver in december and fallout 4 and other games ran well.

So I just bought a new supposed 144hz screen. When I plugged it in, I literally couldn't tell any difference, but it reported that it was running at 144hz, so I thought nothing more of it.

I recently stumbled over some articles and posts describing the same problem I have, with the same screen.

If I do the tests at UFO test, there's a difference between 144hz and 72hz, but when I turn the screen on 120hz, it looks exactly the same as 60hz.

I have the AOC 2460pqu.

Is there really no visible difference? I ran a film with my new monitor and my old 60hz and I couldn't see any difference in smoothness.

Yes, I'm using the DVI-D cable.

Videos are not affected by your monitors framerate.
Try some vidya maybe you will see some difference there.
>>
Unless you're some kind of gaymer pleb you won't notice the difference
>>
>>52419639
>>52419668

Can't see any difference when I play.
If I do this test:
http://www.testufo.com/#test=framerates

and set my screen to 120hz, the 120hz and 60hz UFO looks exactly the same in terms of smoothness, and if I set my screen to 144hz, the UFO looks exactly the same as the 60hz did.

Which is the best online Power Supply Calculator? I've used the eXtreme one at http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator but I'm not sure if it is exaggerating how much power I would need. Any better?

Also, would a 550W PSU with 80-85% continuous power be sufficient for this power usage (pic related)?

Car audio is a hobby where you learn about acoustics. You should be in there positioning your speakers, designing an enclosure built to the t/s specs of your speakers, and running pink noise with a laptop and a spectrum analyzer to find weak points in the system.
If you're not gonna put the effort into a hobby, drop the fucking hobby. I bet you don't even know what your speakers efficiency bandwidth product is, you piece of shit.
