Poorfag here, is making a low-end/cost gaming PC with just an APU a good idea? I only need to be able to play games from a few years ago or older, if it can do Bioshock Infinite it's okay with me.
I was thinking of a AMD 5350, does anyone have a better low cost idea?

Can't even get 30fps in Skyrim on these. Neat for a NAS build though.
Why can't AMD into Linux?

Hey /g/ I've never been here before I'm usually lurking on /b/ but I have some genuine questions and am looking for some help. If this is anything like /b/ I'll catch a lot of OP is a new fag and why don't I am hero for not knowing the answers to my questions, but I'm hopeful that I'll get the answers I need and be able to continue from there.
Question 1- what is the difference between gofundme and kickstart, what is acceptable to use either for?
Question 2- Is it acceptable to post links here on /g/ to a gofundme or kickstarter?
Question 3- Am I on the right board for an idea for improving an existing piece of technology?
>>51813856
All we do here is post our homescreens and argue about inane bullshit. Occasionally there is a halfway decent discussion before the thread derails. Start by sharing your ideas for improving whatever it is you're taking about.
>>51813856
Q1) that's hardly techrelated but w/e
gofundme is for stuff like "my little niglet needs a new kidney please halp" or "let's get these girl scouts to the national convention!!!", you know, fundraising. Kickstarter is intended for business ventures, mostly products like a video game or jump to conclusion mats, and it's against the rules to do fundraising for non-profit bullshit, but that hasn't stopped people from doing so e.g. that girl who went to video game camp
Q2....

I wish I could say I have ideas. A friend I know has been doing quite a bit of research on televisions, a bit obsessive and definitely passionate to be honest. He has started a gofundme /ucdv9m8k and I told him I'd spread the word. Should I have him visit /g/? I really want to make sure things go well for him and I don't want him to get screwed over. Its all above my head though.

Why the fuck does my ssd do this
>>51813567
I'm not sure what kind of files you're copying, but data transfers fast when it's larger singles files, so sometimes when you're copy thing those kinds and it starts copying all the small ones, it slows down significantly.
Is it one of those cheap shit ones?
>using the solid jew
>all amd graphics cards up to and including the 7000 series are no longer supported by amd driver releases
why the fuck is this allowed?
>>51813512
because you have to be a good goy and update your hardware often
>>51813512
Because Terascale is 7 years old.
Honestly, they've pushed the hardware as far as it can go that's all.
Be glad you didn't buy Nvidia and you get updates that actually gimp performance.
I can trade my GTX 780 (non Ti) for a GTX 970 for $50.
Is it worth it, even with the 3.5GB problem?
Yours is better, the gtx 980 ti is better than yours so unless you can get that don't bother, Overclock yours if you can
The 3.5 GB problem doesnt exist, it's 4 GB its just the last 500 mb is at a lower bandwidth speed.
>>51813368
Thus it is a problem.
Last 512 MB, you mean.
Do you wear a ski mask when hacking?

I am using panties.
No just a mask to stop the chippings and splinters from getting stuck to my neckbeard.

No, why? Did it flood the gates with reddit users?
How far away are we from having eye wear that replaces glasses?
Like a miniature oculus that augments your eyesight in real time.
People wouldn't need to buy new glasses when their prescription changes, instead they could just change some settings.

Hey /g/, I'm a student at University of Texas and my parents have decided that they'll get me any kind of laptop I would like. If I can't find one I like they're getting me this Surface Pro 4 but I feel like the whole tablet thing is gimmicky.
Budget is about $1,000.
What would you recommend ?
>>51812666
>Hey /g/,
hi satan
>I'm a student at University of Texas
how is this relevant at all?
>and my parents have decided that they'll get me any kind of laptop
underage faggot, gtfo. you must be 18+ for this site
>>51812666
You must be 18 years or older to post.
With that said, you might as well get an alienware laptop. In college, a surface pro isn't going to make the cut especially at UT. My advice, get the most powerful and expensive laptop you can afford.
>>51812666
I'm also a student at UT. I recommend building your custom built desktop pc rig and bringing it over to your dorm. Put your monitor and case on a rolling work table and bring it to class because you want the most power you can get at all times.
This is my build I will buy tomorrow, criticism is appreated and advice on this build would also help.

Is it for gaming? If so, the CPU and ram are overkill. Also, the WD green is REALLY slow, only useful for backups. If you plan on storing games on there, get a WD blue or black
>>51812792
I only use the WD green for media files e.g. videos, pictures, music. I use the SSD for os games and applications. or do you think I should change it?
Is my build perfect that no one is giving criticism?
Which programming language should I start with (I'm new to programming)?
C
You shouldn't.
Visual Basic
